This is the sort of hat I wear in the cooler months of the year.  What kind is it?  ???

Beats me, but it might as well have a neon sign on it saying "I AM GAY!"

It's a "Cowdora"...

Private investigators in the old west wore them a lot.
I promise not to duck.

Do you squint while wearing it ???

Please post a picture of your poncho, too :)

His hats usually had a flat brim, and a cylindrical crown.  Like so:

Alright, smarty-pants.  You send me the rest of the gear (to include the guns with the snake stocks) and I'll get the hat.

Still, I would only wear all that hot gear when it's about twenty degrees out.   =)

Will you be followed around by a sailor, a policeman, and an indian chief?

Stetson according to the pin.  =D

Cowboy hat, they might be marketing it as an "Outback style", with a molded in "C-crown" and front pinch, it appears to have a welted edge.  Looks like a fur-felt.

It looks like the brim is dimensional, meaning it is deeper on the front and back than on the sides, that's pretty common with cowboy-style hats.

Trim it down to a 2-3 inch brim and replace the band with a ribbon and it would magically become a fedora-style hat.

There's really not much difference.

Actually, I think the brim is even all the way around.  I think what you're seeing is that the sides are curved up a little.

But mine isn't a fifty-dollar Stetson, it's a twenty-dollar Burlington Coat Factory.  So, instead of the pimpin' hat band, it has a cheapo, naugahyde band.

Oh, and Bogie, I thumb my nose in your general direction.  I be pimpin', straight up!  Betta reckanize.

  That would explain a few things.  I've been wearing those hats since before I started posting here.  I think I'm on my second one, now.

Hat aficianados will buy those, cut them down, reblock them as necessary and put a new ribbon on them.

Cheap way to build up a hat collection.
