Palin Pardons Turkey, MSNBC Whines
« on: November 21, 2008, 08:35:59 PM »
So for whatever reason, some people I work with just automatically assume I'm a libtard because I work for the .gov and they send me links like this thinking I'll agree with them. This is an MSNBC edited YouTube clip of Sarah Palin pardoning a turkey for Thanksgiving. Post pardon she's being interviewed about the campaign trail. In the background, the turkey ranch is doing business as usual and slaughtering turkeys. The website hosting the link and MSNBC both wring their hands about evil, uncivilized Sarah's "blooper". I on the other hand commend her for not making a big deal about turkeys being killed, and actually joking around when she finds out about the background scene. Are the MSNBC crew going to go Vegan on T-Day? I doubt it. Another case of whiney, hand-wringing liberals who think meat is created in a Star Trek replicator.

You mean those turkeys we eat on thanksgiving haven't died from natural causes?

The only turkey bigger than the one Palin pardoned was the one at the anchor desk.

That's a pardon that will mean something.  Some free range turkey, out in the field, he doesn't really know where he's gonna end up.  That turkey, he saw it coming, had time to feel the dread of impending unbeing.

The pardon gives him a space to breath, a chance to reexamine his life and get his priorities straight.

That's a turkey that's going places now, a turkey that will cherish his second chance at life.

Ironically, I heard that right after the turkey was pardoned it just went and killed someone else.

What do they call those words they throw up on the screen?  The stuff like "Gov. Palin keeps talking, despite turkey carnage."  Sweet, suffering tuna fish, MSNBC is a comic parody of NBC.  And they are treated like a real news network.  God help us.

And he was pretty tame.  That was the guy covering for Olberman.  Can you imagine his foaming tirade?  Eyes bulging, neck straining, goofy smirk and all.  That would have been pretty funny, actually.

That shot looked like a set-up to me. The guy in the background constantly looks back at the camera throughout the whole interview with a, "Is this good?", look on his face. Cameramen and reporters are always hyper-aware of where and what they are shooting in the foreground and background. It is what they do for their jobs. Don't tell me they didn't pay attention when they dragged her over there to do the interview.

All the morons line up and make it out like Palin chose that exact background.

Not only was it set-up, but it wasn't even that bad. "Graphic?" All the guy is doing is bleeding the dang thing out, from what I can tell.

It is sad to see people act like tools and not think about what is actually going on. But then again, it helps you identify people who cannot objectively think about things.

I do have to admit that the scene was almost Monty Python-ish, but Palin took it in good natured stride, which is what you'd expect from a hunter, farmer, or any other common sense individual who knows where food comes from. What's annoying is the, "oh the humanity" comments from bloggers and reporters who all probably had cheeseburgers (or blackened salmon and arugala) for lunch.

I think she ought to do an encore where she goes to a local farm and personally strangles the Christmas goose. That ought to keep the bloggers busy for awhile.  =D

MSNBC also whines about hunting and takes the position with PETA.

I watched an interview of Governor Palin with Greta Van Susteran on FNC, earlier this month.

The Gov. thoroughly and simply explained the need for her state's current hunting and predator control laws....stating that the people of Alaska have the ability to locate and harvest game without the competition of predator species, such as wolves, so they need not rely on expensive imports of beef that they cannot raise in the state.

"Free Range"........ another Liberal feel-good term. The reality, per Alton Brown, is that "free range" birds get the door opened to their cage for an hour/ day (or so) and are free to roam around the farm (within the cage). Most don't like to leave their secure surroundings. It's just another BS way to make the PeTA PITAs to feel good and charge a little more $$

It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

The reply from the Palin camp was "no worries".  I concur.

ONe interesting thing is now I know how they process turkeys in Alaska.  Pretty cool.

The farm where my family buys our turkeys for Thanksgiving and Christmas has "free range" birds.  That means they're all in one big pen as tightly as they can be packed.  The interesting thing is the pen, which is full at Thanksgiving, is empty by Christmas.  I bet the blissninnies posting the horrified responses on that blog would think that's just a weird coincidence.

eta: these are the kind of people who tell me how cruel/mean hunting is as they take a bite of their cheeseburger (yes, I've actually experienced that).

It's too bad Palin didn't turn around, see what was going on and say, "mmm! Czarnina!" (That's duck blood soup. My late FIL used to take live ducks in the basement and cut off their heads to get the blood for soup).

As for the cameraman, yeah, he/she knew exactly what was going on. So did the interviewers, unless they're completely blind.
