Tattooed Colorado convict in jarring before/after booking photos

DECEMBER 4--Meet Michael Campbell, before and after. The Colorado man has a long rap sheet and prison history, though you probably could have guessed that based on the below mug shots. In the "before" photos, Campbell is seen following a 2003 theft arrest in Jefferson County, Colorado. The "after" photos were snapped about six weeks ago, when Campbell was again popped and jailed at the Jefferson County lockup. Though he has been in and out of custody between 2003 and 2008, Campbell, 33, apparently used his infrequent time on the street to aggressively supplement his facial and neck art. It is unclear, however, why his ears, to date, have been left untouched. But that polka-dotted bow tie (at least we think it's a bow tie) was a wonderful addition.

Wow.

One of the few times that facial tattoos have actually improved someone's looks.

Is it just me, or does his neck look shorter in the "after" pics?  That pit bull in that he already had in the first photo is a heck of a lot closer to his chin (even allowing for the beard).

Maybe he got all that ink to cover up the scars from having his neck surgically shortened, or something.

I especially like the bowtie, it gives it that extra touch of class.

Has anyone ever seen a person with tattoos like that in public?

I've seen people with neck tattoos and small things on their face like teardrops and playboy bunnies, but never more than 5% of the face covered up.

Can't you see that he's a good boy who's trying to turn his life around ?

as to the pitbull, he's got his head thrown back in the befores.

what he needs to do is stick his head in a paper bag in the after.

Just off hand I'd say the gentleman just experienced a religious conversion and decided to go all in with his new belief system.  It also means he has written off any way of backing out should his new religious belief turn out to be something he failed to anticipate.

A seriously damaged human.  Pity him.

There's a guy at my gym with a 'tribal' tattoo on one side of his face - on the temple, beside the eye and down to the cheek. Very similar to what Mike Tyson had done.

Actually, all that dark work on his face was to cover up the large L for Loser that took up most of his forehead and face.

That's just... wow.

I've seen some impressive ink work, that even in it's excess (covering a whole face or most of it), is still a thing of beauty.

That's just... Epic Fail.

I remember an old, old MAD Magazine which had several joke "before and after" cartoons dealing with tattoos.  The one that sticks out in memory(indeed, every time I see a garbage truck) is a "before" showing a burly, somewhat fat bald guy with a big swastika, the Fuhrer's likeness, and the word "HEIL" tattooed across his various surfaces.  In the "after", he'd apparently had a change of heart.  I forget what was changed with the swastika, but Hitler's head got longer hair and more feminine features(but did, as I recall, retain the famous mustache), and the "HEIL" became "SHEILA".  A declaration of loyalty became a profession of love :D
