You think health care in America is bad? Try Europe.
« on: December 14, 2008, 02:40:29 PM »
France is the biggest consumer of antibiotics in Europe.

(and in the UK) "Oh for goodness sake," she said brusquely. "Anyone would think you were dying. You've only got suspected leprosy."

TBC and probably small pox and a couple of others are making a comeback as well.

Today, it's called Hansen's disease. Though it's conjures up terrible thoughts, it's actually a very treatable, chronic disease.

It's caused by a bacterial infection of both the Mycobacterium leprae and Mycobacterium lepromatosis.

Yes, the terrible healthcare in Europe so clearly evidenced in that very heavyweight piece about... err antibiotics for colds (stupid, agreed) and 'heavy legs'.

The person with suspected leprosy had just returned from a stint in Afghanistan.

There's leprosy in the US too.

Likely not smallpox, Viking.  It's still listed as officially stamped out (read: extinct) by the CDC, except for samples kept in secure laboratories.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

Hm, must've misremembered. Silly me. Still, TBC is making a comeback, along with some other nasties.

Have the preditor's favorite body part fall off?

What were the song lyrics to that Bonnie Tyler song? "Once upon a time I was falling in love, now I'm only falling apart....."
