Depends on how much you value your time.

And, I suppose how much the scrap yard tried to ream me for parts.

Or just buy a scrap yard complete 4x4 and use your 2wd for parts ...  :|

Sadly, I lack the room to really do that.

Watched a guy try to do that once. Don't think it was a Ford, maybe a Chevy. But he got it most of the way until he found out none of the holes in the frame  matched up with the new crossmember. He needed the truck next day or something. Watched him reverse the whole process soon afterwards, cussing all the way...

make sue it's really going to work before you try it!  =D

Barring part costs, I'm fairly confident that I can make it work, as the frame and bracketing is the same.  Worse case scenario, I can drill new holes and fabricate new parts (or modify existing ones) on the mill.

I may or may not ever do it.  I haven't researched it throughly enough to make an informed decision.

Portland, the city that never sees snow, is currently under about a foot.  The city has basically shut down.  The wife and I have walked to a couple of stores (mostly because we didn't want other people playing bumper cars with our car, and we figure we can get out of the way pretty quickly on foot) and just watching people try to drive who have no clue is really rather humorous.  My favorite is the guy (yes, it's ALWAYS a guy) who starts spinning the wheels and therefore steps on the gas even harder, and seems shocked when that doesn't do anything other than make the wheels spin even faster.

Substitute Seattle for Portland, and you got our current conditions.

Snow?

Yes, in Minneapolis/St. Paul we have snow and temps have been down to -15F on some nights. We've had several nuisance storms over the last several weeks dumping 3-6 inches at a time. We can deal with the snow, but the bitter cold is nasty and prevents proper de-icing of roads.

Main streets are still snow/ice covered in spots, and side streets have been plowed but are covered in snow and ice.

Our Toyota Corolla sits in the garage. Even with good tires (Goodyear Assurance TripleTreds) the cars is tough to drive in snow and ice. We've been using the 4x4 Cherokee daily for several weeks now.

People are finally driving with sense here now. The first few weeks of winter driving bring out the stupid in people.

After the recent storms, I've convinced the wife that swapping in a front axle, transfer case, and other misc parts to upgrade the F250 to 4x4 is worthwhile.

Apparently, it's one of the easiest trucks on the road to convert.  Even the mounting brackets on the frame match up!

Now I just need to wait for half-off day at the local scrapyard, and borrow my buddies gas powered compressor.

I tried the same thing with my wife.

I got a new Detroit Locker for the rear end in my truck, instead.

Well, that and a Jeep Liberty.   =D

Allegedly now it's supposed to start raining and then we get an ice storm.  I can hardly wait.

We just got hit with about a foot last Friday, then temps dropped below 0. Now Christmas Eve we're supposed to get even more snow. There's really no place to put it. The snow in my yard was about up to my knees on Friday.

Global warming my skinny white butt.
