Nauseous after workout?

I was taking a shower after my workout when I became nauseous like I get after giving blood.  I didn't feel light-headed or dizzy, just nauseous.  I was working with weights only, no cardio.

Anyone else ever feel like that?

Most people are nauseous after working out.  The shower usually fixes that. (you hit one of my pet peeves there...)

As for being nauseated, was it sinus drainage, perhaps?  The big blood flow changes caused by exercise followed by the temperature shock of a shower sometimes kicks open my sinuses.

No sinus drainage.

First time I've be nauseous after a workout.  I usually do mainly cardio work, not weights, so I wonder if that made a difference.

Oh, well.  It passed quickly enough.

Hmmm...I think we can safely rule out morning sickness.

Possibly a rapid change in blood pressure.  That can do it.

After some really intense weightlifting sessions, I've felt a tad nauseous.  It's usually the "big" lifts like squats, deadlifts, leg presses, etc that do it for me though.  Especially high intensity, low rep deadlift sessions...

A hot shower can cause the peripheral blood vessels to dialate, dropping you blood pressure. Local Dr died here a couple yrs ago after shoveling snow, going in and taking a hot shower, Died, that is, DRT, EMS took forever getting to him because of the snow.

What, don't you watch House?  People exert themselves, barf, and come down with some exotic disease that will kill them within hours.  Meanwhile, Cuddy continues to assume that the guy who's right every episode is wrong this time, delaying their diagnosis and treatment.

It's probably too late, but if you're lucky, they'll name the disease after you.

+1. I've felt nauseated after lifting weights, but usually only when I hadn't eaten enough that day. The only other times I've had that problem have been when I'm not breathing properly while lifting.

This was my first thought--it's why I'm nauseated after (and before and during) working out...

I have found that an electrolyte drink will fix that almost immediately.

And my favorite sports drink? Coconut water, cold. :) It's got every electrolyte you need, and it tastes much better than the nasty colored sports drinks, I think.

Low blood sugar + lowered electrolytes + temperature shock d/t shower = immediate introduction to the Porcelain Throne (or the tile floor).

Drink a Gatorade and cool down before you shower. That will solve the problem....

I always hear that it's best to have a cool down period, even if only to stop sweating, otherwise you may still be sweating after the shower, and get all stanky again.

Sometimes Gu can help too.  A whole lot of sticky in a small package, but I prefer it at once and then drink water insteadof drinking a whole bottle of sticky sweetness.  I prefer the orange ones myself.

Yup! The kind that is not sweetened too much. It comes in a tetra pak thing.
