It's funny how I started a thread about movies, and people seem to think it is a thread about their own experiences.  ???

Isn't that what all threads here eventually devolve into?

Thread drift is a pretty significant feature in many of our threads, tho. I mainly find it amusing as I seem to recall Fistful doing a lot of drifting himself.

Oh, hey, yeah, I get to drift all I want.  But You People had better watch it, in one of MY threads.

One "clique" at my high school had that no one has mentioned here is Mexicans.

You mean you have bored, angst-ridden WASP kids dressing up like Mexicans?....  =|

And their artistic cousins inclined to self-mutilation, the Van Goths.

Speaking of drifting, have you guys ever done that racing thing where they set up cones on a parking lot and you slide around them and do donuts and stuff.. it's awesome fun, from my experience.  Let's talk about that now.

Getting back to OP... not really.  They still have the gay guy and the "goth" guy has always been around in one form or another.

I used to do it with a bicycle, back when I was in junior high.  We waited until a parking lot was iced over, though.  =D  Basically, whoever fell first, lost.

Yes, back to the OP....

Goth kids in my time were very hetero...

Maybe Hollyjoke is trying to start a new hate war...

I never had a problem with any goth types, with the exception that they thought I was too hardcore.

For me it went down like this...

Pro goth list...
all black clothing
listens to our music
anti-establishment
intellectual
kind of anti social
drugs and alcohol
unemployment is cool and so is being poor
looking like a freak or outcast
live in a basement, free from sunlight

Anti goth list...
really smart (as in way smarter than us)
listens to other music not on the list (too open minded)
willing to work with the establishment to better my life instead of declaring war
intellectual (see above about smartness)
not anti social enough, just don't care for public exposure
drugs and alcohol (I was doing better than they could get and would share )
had a car and could fix it (big no no in goth circles. Car equals establishment, except that I never had to beg for a ride to a bus stop)
employed at a young age (money bought all the things they wish they had, and I wouldn't share =D...moochers)
my freak was better than theirs, and my anti establishment was more risky too...to me they were weak "women's central productive organs)
car...goth is slow...gimme my V8

and so on

Pardon the bad script? Off the top of my head typing here.

Smothered in syrup, liberally doused with Tabasco, served with a side of sausage and hash browns. Om nom nom

What a thread to come back to after a long absence!
Not that the original question was all that interesting, no offense, just the replies and thread drift have been quite a ride!

It was so fun, I referred a friend.  Thanks for the tears, the aching sides and genuine ear to ear grin.

My favorites in this order:
The Emu comments
Mexican section
The comments on thread drift

Once again, thank you all very much for the laughs.  I have read about 90% of all the threads here within the last few days, and along with the Fistful episodes, this thread has been a riot.
