Buying close-outs rules!
« on: January 28, 2009, 05:08:20 PM »
I just picked up a $275 Marmot Mountain down jacket for an awesome discount at the local Sportsman's Warehouse. The original sticker was $275, and there was markdown tag for $165. When I got to the register, the jacket rung up for $97.97! I scored $175 off just because it was last years model. It was such a good deal that I went back and grabbed a second one for my hiking buddy.

Also, Thanksgiving weekend I picked up a $100 The North Face rain jacket for $60 on closeout from a small outdoors store.

Dude, nice!  =D

Not a close-out, but I recently picked up a horizontal metal cutting bandsaw.

Originally marked at $249, it was on sale for $199 in the store.  I also had a 20% off coupon, so I got it for $159.

My hacksaw arm couldn't be happier!  =D  It's something I should have bought long, long ago.

Between the down economy keeping people from buying new cloths, end of year, and end of season, now is a great time to buy new cloths.

I just spent 60 bucks for cloths, would have cost me over 200 has they not been on sale.
That is all. *expletive deleted*ck you all, eat *expletive deleted*it, and die in a fire. I have considered writing here a long parting section dedicated to each poster, but I have decided, at length, against it. *expletive deleted*ck you all and Hail Satan.

Since this is sort of a "cheap clothing" thread, and I know there is at least one other hiker here, http://www.steepandcheap.com/ is an awesome place to pick up gear for 50-70% off msrp. Some of the stuff is sort of cheesy, but they do a ton of quality gear too. They're an child-site of Backcountry.com, which is also a pretty good place to buy from.

I got a gortex blaze orange camo jacket from there last year for $49 out the door.  This jacket was on the rack with others from the same manufacture and all but was marked down to 79.95.  When I hit the register it rang up for the $49 after tax.

I gotta tell ya, that's the warmest hunting jacket I've ever owned!

I'm still wearing the "top of the line" Eddie Bauer arctic down jacket that I bought about 15-20 years ago. It has one piece of duct tape which occasionally gets replaced.
