Someone I know compiled all these fun sounds from Boeing and McDonnell Douglas aircraft.

I'd think this should be in Round Table.

Also how do I get it to be my ringtone.

ooo.  I might have to hack it up into individual files, and make ringtones.  Good idea.

And whoops, sorry everyone, didn't realize I put this in Politics.

dasmi,

If you're gonna hack it up, I'd like to have the TCAS and GPWS warnings as ringtones.   =D

A320: check the TCAS subdir, as well as the boeing subdir, I think the tcas warnings in there are clearer, but dunno how real they are.

Fly320s, can you be more specific?  I'm not sure which are which.

When the windshear one goes off, I want to start humming the Night Court theme.

The wxradar one sounds like Hank Hill.  I'd expect it to go "WHAHHHH!" at some point...

TCAS = traffic collision avoidance system... those are the voice saying, "Climb.  Climb now.  Climb, crossing, climb.  Climb now or you're gonna die, you idiot."

GPWS = ground proximity warning system... that's the voice saying, "Too low, gear.  Too low, flaps. Don't sink.  Sink rate.  Hey dummy, you're getting kinda close to that mountain."

Thanks, Nitrogen, I'll take a look at 'em later.

Do you think the plane that just recently crashed into the Hudson started saying "Don't Sink"  "Don't Sink"?

I thought it was (or at least used to be) "Voice that tells you to climb because a traffic helicopter is puttering around a thousand feet beneath you on a normal approach and isn't likely to be anywhere near you?"

Did they improve it? :)

Though I think the one I've heard that I'd never argue with is "Terrain, Terrain. Pull up, Pull up." The ground kinda wins...

Looks like Nitrogen has it covered.  If anyone wants me to cut up parts of the file I posted, let me know, and I'll get it done.

They won't play for me. When I click on one I get a little box with and X in it.

While those are good noises. The best I've heard from a lot of time in small planes was from the pilot.

"Oh crap... Hold on!"

The funniest was when my dad asked a new guy to lean over and get something for him and then he nodded to the pilot.
Abrupt altitude change.
Now that guy made some funny noises.
Sometimes we carry more weight then we owe.
And sometimes goes on and on and on.

Try downloading them and playing them locally.  They still seem to be working for me both at home at work, though.

You can always install quicktime, which will allow playing mp3's inline in your browser, if you don't have it installed already.

One of my coworkers is a pilot and I randomly put "BEEP BEEP PULL UP" on his computer.  The reaction from him was priceless.

Uhm, the Boeing fire bell does kinda get one's attention.   I still think the terrain warning would get my attention the most
