Obama Makes Surprise Trip to Read to Children
By Michael D. Shear and Hamil Harris

As a sense of crisis engulfed his White House Tuesday with the withdrawal of former senator Tom Daschle as HHS Secretary-nominee, President Obama made an unannounced trip to a school to read to kids.

His motorcade was seen heading north on 15th Street, and local sources soon reported he was at The Capital City Public Charter School. There was no mention of a trip on the schedule sent out to reporters the previous day.

At the school, the president and Michelle Obama read to a group of second-graders in the school library from a picture book entitled "The Moon over Star," an account of the first moon landing in July of 1969. An Associated Press report from the scene said that Obama told the students, "We were just tired of being in the White House."

That's right, two weeks to the day he was crowned, he admits his weariness.  What's next?  A trip to Hawaii, five day weekends at Camp David, strolling the beaches of Iran?  Thanks for the example of a good work ethic, sir!

Well, isn't that special.   ;/

I think I jerked the comment out of context.  He and his wife are probably tired of being cooped up, but it still makes for a good read.  Heck, when you're king, you make your own rules.  He probably misses all the good old days (about five years ago) when he was out getting the community organized and all.

See, that's how I'd expect a normal person to act.  I'm happier overall with a president who is out amongst the people more.  Not overly happy with Obama the person, but happy with the concept of getting out.

When you have been traveling all over for 2 years, I guess you guess you get used to it.  Pretty minor IMO.

Definitely minor, but I think we will see a trend.  For better or worse, he is not going to be cooped up and hemmed in.  But, mark my words, he'll be caught with his shorts down on one of his little getaways.

Unfortunately, for them "normal people" are a mix of Ivory tower types, just those not in "THE TOWER", the one who's walls are the beltway, and then a mix of "commoners" who may be middle-lower class, but not part of the productive class, because they make thier living off the state, just in better style than welfare recipients, working for a mish-mash social service agencies, advocacy groups, community groups, and attending a black-supremacy ideology church.

The real "normal people" of flyover country who's only real desires are much simpler, "Don't tax me, don't tax my boss so he keeps employing me, stay out of our way, and don't make things worse." are not who they'll ever be rubbing elbows with.

With the possible exception of deluded midwesterners who believe the lip-service the Democrats give to those concepts.
I promise not to duck.

In today's news El Tejon, chief counsel and assistant gun cleaner for the Bitter Clingers, who was reading a Jeff Cooper biolgraphy to second graders was quoted as stating:

"We were just tired of being oppressed by the White House."

Maybe, just maybe, he was trying to be funny for some kids.

Can we focus on his actual failings (which are many and varied) instead of reading too much into an out of context remark delivered to some school children?

Too bad he didn't read a book about ethical conduct, paying taxes, or effecting real change.

Can we actually discuss, oh - I don't know - actual issues, instead of pulling a quote out of context and harping on that?

I mean, I know Obama is pretty perfect and all, but surly that is something a tad more interesting to discuss then the fact that the man is getting tired of being couped up?  =D

NIck,

I believe it is an actual issue because it reveals what kind of guy he is and shows his maverick side.  Reading to a group of kids is great, not a bad thing at all.  Saying he's tired of being in the White House--even if tongue in cheek--shows that sometime in the future, he is going to absolutely lose his cool or worse.  It's been, what, two weeks?  He has 103 more two week periods left.

Yep, he surely is.

Maybe the guy just needs some time to adjust, but if he's having trouble coping after just 2 weeks that indicates a potential problem.
