CV joint?
« on: March 24, 2009, 01:22:49 PM »
So I call Autozone just now and ask for a constant velocity joint for my car. The guy says, "What kind of joint?" "Constant velocity joint" He starts typing it in, tries a few different things I guess. Comes back and says. "I don't know what a constant velocity joint is. I say, "Uh gee, that kind of worries me." He puts me on hold, minute later he comes back, "Do you mean a CV joint?" I say, "Yes a Constant Velocity joint, CV. That's right." He says "Ohhh, I know what that is. You're using such big words."

Wow.

I've taken to shopping at NAPA for that reason.  Their clerks often know more then me about a part, rather then the other way around.

Parts cost a bit more, but tend to be of better quality, although I have no quantitative evidence to back that up.

+10 for NAPA.

They clerk I usually interface with not only knows car parts, he is also an amateur local historian.

I never get out of there in under 20 minutes, as I become enthralled by some bit of Dallas history.

Have fun at the home improvement centers.

Ask where you can find polyvinylchloride. (sp?)

Most Home Depot/Lowe's folks around here know what PVC stands for.  =)

I think Home Depot and Lowe's both do a good job of hiring non-ignorant people.
