Kershaw Leek/Scallion...

Seems like really good prices if you don't mind a factory second.

Good price if you group buy em to avoid the high shipping. Never cared for em myself as the opening mechanism seems frail, but a good deal if you like them.

Shipping is $7.95 flat rate.

That's not terrible, especially when the list on either knife is a LOT more than that.

That is a great deal.

Also, shipping is per order, so if you get two it's going to be $50 + $7.95 shipping

I am having a hard time not ordering two right now.

My wife bought me the leek for Christmas in 2003.  I used it daily many times, so it was easily snapped open many thousands of times.  The spring broke in December 2008.  I haven't gotten around to requesting a new one but I am told they will mail a new spring for free no questions asked, or if you pay shipping one way they will install the new spring free and put a new edge on the blade if you want for free.

Tip to anyone that buys one:  The pocket clip can be reversed so that the knife rides hinge-down in your pocket. do it.

Looks like the scallion is on Amazon for ~$30, new. So after the free Amazon shipping it's the same price for a new one from there as this blemished deal. The Leek is still a bit more on Amazon, so if you go that route this deal might be the way to go.

I love mine.

I bought it from Wal-Mart back in 2002-ish.

Broke a spring, mailed the knife back to the factory with a note asking them to fix it and send be a bill.  They mailed me a new knife, for free.

Broke another spring, requested to have one mailed to me.  It was mailed to me, for free.

Good knives, good company.

I've got a Scallion, carried it in my pocket for a year, I consider that to be a fair evaluation period. Decent enough knife and the assisted opening is handy. I found it less than easy to sharpen and it doesn't hold an edge as well as I like. The opening mechanism tended to get slow from collecting pocket lint without almost daily attention.  I went back to my Case Trapper.

I've owned a Leek since maybe a year after they came out - I forget when that was, but it's been several years.  The sum total of my problems with it?  I accidentally forgot to take it out of my pants once and it went through the wash and the dryer.  The "slidelock" failed as a result of the heat in the dryer and the knife came open, which caused the tip to be broken off (maybe a millimeter's worth or so - just the very tip of the point).  That's it.  I ground the tip back to a point on my own, and wrote to ask the company to send me a new slidelock, plus a bill - they sent me four, for free.  Oh, I almost forgot, I damaged the clip, as well, by catching it on a door frame latchplate and bending it out - again, I wrote to the company, asking for a price for a replacement part and they sent it, plus new Torx bolts to attach it, for free.  Their customer service ROCKS.  I've never been able to get it to take a true razor edge, but I can get it plenty sharp, and don't have much trouble keeping it there with minimal maintenance.  It goes very nearly everywhere with me.

Overall, I've been VERY happy with it as a daily-carry utility knife.

Another thing I love about the leek is that it is very low-profile.  Doesn't snag on your hand if you put your hand into the pocket that knife is clipped to.

I like the Leek. No experience with the Scallion.

I own this one with the Sandvik 13C26 + copper + D2 steel sandwich: http://www.agrussell.com/kershaw-leek-with-composite-blade/p/KEhhh1660CB/

Made in the USA.  =)

I've got a Kershaw Ken Onion Blackout folder:

http://www.kershaw-knives.net/Kershaw-Ken-Onion-Blackout-KS1550.htm

It's practically NIB. I've played with it a few times and put it away to gather dust because I prefer fixed blades. I also don't care for the blade release being placed on the bottom of the handle when you have to fold the blade towards your hand to close it. With my attention span, that's just a lost thumb waiting to happen.

Who wants it?

Ooo Ooo!!!

Ahem... I mean,

I'd be happy to take that off your hands   =D
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

PM me on where to send it.

It'll free up enough space for something else...like maybe a Hot Wheel.

I got a Chive when they first came out and always wanted a Leek.  With my luck, factory second would = slightly missing blade (or prototype butter knife version).

If Mak changes his mind, for some bizarre reason, I'd take it off your hands, too.

I don't actually expect him to pass it up, though.  Darnit. =| =D
