Getting mixed reviews.
« on: June 04, 2009, 06:25:36 PM »

My wife told me there was a Carlton t-shirt at Target, and I told her she HAD to get me that shirt.  If you don't know, or don't remember, he was the wealthy, nerdy cousin of Will Smith's character in the nineties sit-com, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

She got it for me yesterday, and I put it on and went straight to church, it being Wednesday night and all.  The first guess I got from someone (who has probably never watched the show) was "Is that Obama?"

The next guess was from my neighbor, when we came home ("we" meaning me, my wife, and Carlton).  In her defense, it was dark and so is he and he's wearing a bow tie, but she thought it was Malcom X.  When we told her it was Carlton, she immediately started doing the Carlton dance.  :O  I had no recollection of it, but he apparently liked to boogie down to Tom Jones.

Harold Tuttle, Cromlech, I has no idea what yous talking about.

But then, I don't know what a Harold Tuttle is supposed to be, either.

Carlton is not a 4chan meme

Carlton transcends memes.

He's just a "me"...

And he's in you too.

There is a little Carlton in all of us.
I promise not to duck.

I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

That was hilarious.

Carlton manages a mean Tom Jones, sure enough.

Actually, considering the fact it made its run in the early 1990s, you'd still be considered somewhat "unfresh" if you had seen it.

The cartoon image is part of a meme, where people take a 'template' of sorts and fill it in with their own short story or skit. The cartoon dude is laying the F-bomb down at the end because something went very wrong for him. In the one I posted, the dude couldn't help but laugh at Carlton, so he lost.
