FIL in the hospital
« on: July 07, 2009, 10:09:18 PM »
Details are sketchy right now, but what I know is he got bucked off his horse Sunday.  Not sure if it was becuase of his injuries, or where he was at, or both, but they choppered him to the hospital in Vancouver, WA.

Apparently the injuries include multiple broken bones, a crushed lumbar vertabra, punctured lung, and severe concussion.  I should know more tonight or tomorrow.

We didn't find out about the accident until today becuase my FIL's wife (who we have a friendly if distant relationship with) couldn't find either mine or my wife's cell phone numbers until this morning.

Ouch. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to your FIL, sumpnz.  Hopefully no permanent damage was done.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

Sounds like he was entered into the trauma system, and reasonably so due to his injuries.  LifeFlight will come out if it saves any more than 15 minutes versus ground transport for trauma patients or critical medical patients.

Last night my wife said he was awake for a few minutes at a time.  Probably too doped up on pain killers to stay awake much more than that.

Sounds like he probably will in the hospital at least until Friday.  Apparently he wants to go home now, but that ain't happening.

Damn it!  There goes an elk hunting partner for this year.  I just hope he'll be back in the sadle in time for next year's hunt.

Holy crap! I'm really sorry to hear that. :( Hope he recovers well. Those punctured lungs are nasty, especially if it gets infected.
