Finn 1891 Mosins at AIM
« on: November 06, 2009, 12:32:09 AM »
Interesting, I'm not really sure how these are different from the 91/30. Pretty good prices though, low $200 to mid $300's. Wish I had some spare cash at the moment.

The M91s have a 4 inch longer barrel, are prettier, and if the barrel cartouche is intact, interesting.  I need to look, I need a Sesty for my collection.....chris3

They are Finnish arsenalled rifles. These are of much higher quality than any Russian M91 or 91/30, for 200-300 they are well worth the price if you want something that is fairly rare and well made. I have a Finnish rearsenalled 91/30 (originally Tula), it puts the rest of my Russian Mosins to shame in respects to quality. I'd take one of those M91s over a truckload of craptacular Russian rifles.

Hmm... I do not yet have a Mosin. I will have to investigate this further...
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

By all means, get a Finn.

Kinda funny story here.  One of the local Big 5 Sporting goods apparently got a shipment of Finnish Mosins a while back.  Put them up at the same price as the rest of the Mosins they had.  They were wondering why suddenly their store was flooded w/ people looking for Mosins.  Buddy of mine got a nice one for $90....  I wanted to beat him over the head for not telling *ME* about this event before they sold out.

I can't complain too loud though.  I've got an Izhevsk (yes, I know that's the most common one out there, but...)  that's all matching serials except the mag floor plate.  And once I figured out that the front sight was loose and causing my shots to go all over the target, it's actually pretty accurate w/ my handloads.  :)

If you have the cash and want it, get it.  I was never happy with the Russian one I have.  BUT, I have a spam can of ammo so it is something I guess I'll hold on to.  My biggest mistake was thinking it would be neat to pick up one of those long barreled Mosins with the octagonal receiver.  The one I got has a nasty barrel and won't hit the side of a barn.  I'm not sure what to do with it.  Luckily it was at least cheap.
