Pinlock visors
« on: December 04, 2009, 04:52:54 PM »
For the motorcycle riders:

I was out for a ride today, and got tired of having to do the zen breathing to keep the fog at bay inside my visor. The weather is overcast and about 38*, which just about guarantees fog even with the shield cracked open a little.  I stopped by the local shop and picked up a Pinlock shield with the clear insert.

100% improvement. I literally could not fog the insert, even when I was sitting at a stop light. I have tried various anti-fog stuff in the past, but nothing that even approached the effectiveness of the Pinlock. It cost $90, but it's going to be well worth it for me. I had heard a lot of praise for the setup, but I honestly didn't expect this big of a difference.

What about using one of the heated ones, works great on the snowmobile down to 0.

I wonder if those visors fit a HJC helmet?  I have had to forego riding to work lately due to black ice on the roads up here.  Even the Escape has slid around a bit.

Pinlock does have visors for most of the HJC helmets. Looking at the site, it seems that they don't have visors for the SyMax2, the IS-16, and the IS-Max.

I know nothing of motorcycle helmets, but I did play paintball for years.  High end paintball masks have a dual layer shield that doesn't fog up, I don't know how it works, but it does work very well.  Looks like the paintball guys probably stole the idea from these pinlocks as they seem to work the same way.

Dual lens are pretty much standard for snowmobiling, the heated ones are dual lens also.
