A massive extension of maternity leave across Europe was last night voted for by the Womens’ Rights Committee of the European Parliament to make it compulsory for employers to pay mothers for a minimum of 20 weeks on full pay

...made me think of this question.

I spent ten years in security at a corporate office, and seemed to notice a trend in the work force in terms of work/long hours...with the exception of special projects... the single, heavy ladies tended to be the people putting in the long hours (as well as the more pleasant to be around), with the next runner up being the workaholic-super-ambitious type of men (not as pleasant to be around).

I think it is more a personality type than anything to do with looks.

There are plenty of "unattractive" men and women reproducing out there. Thankfully beauty is in the eye of the beholder or I'd never get a date  :P
For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

I noticed just the opposite.

The intro to "Wanted" cracked me up.

The fat, old, warty, cranky women seemed to gravitate towards middling management, social work and human resources.

Why not just hang a sign out that says: Employers, it's okay to not hire women?

Sheesh.

If I were a business owner in the EU, and this became law, I sure wouldn't be interested in hiring any woman under 40 years of age.

Yeah, I never noticed a productivity trend.  A couple of those heavier set women made themselves look busier than most, but actually talked on the phone a whole lot among other things.  But that was just one or two individuals.  Others were hard working, same with other types of people.

Maybe they had a 1-900 phone line job on the side.
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

During my career as an advertising photographer, I had the experience of meeting women from all levels of companies, from the presidents to marketing managers down to "grunts." I also saw every level of beauty, and I can't say that looks and ambition/work ethic had any correlation.

The only correlation I ever noticed were married women with kids (of any age), GENERALLY/USUALLY were the hardest workers/most productive.

Bless the women and children who firm our hands.

Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.
