Scope on K98K Variants?
« on: March 13, 2010, 07:24:27 PM »
Do any of you have K98K variants with a Scout scope mounted? If so, how do you like it and what mount did you use? I have a knockaround Yugo M48 that has been my truck gun and currently has a Mojo on it. It's got a nice barrel and is pretty accurate, so I was thinking of switching to a Scout scope and maybe using it for hunting.

I'll probably pop over to THR and a C&R site or two to check as well, but just wanted to see what any of you that have such a setup think of it.

Mojo beats a cheap scout scope.

I would have looked at a standard scope, but AFAIK for an M48, you need to have a gunsmith drill and tap the receiver, bend the bolt, and modify the safety. Too much gunsmithing for a $100 rifle.

Don't remember who makes it, but last year a friend and I shot an M24/47 that he had set up with a scout scope using a mount that replaced the ladder sight. Maybe B-Square? It worked really well, using an inexpensive pistol scope the brand name of which I also can't remember. We were popping off mil-surp ammo at 200 yards and getting groups of around 4" to 6".
