That's sad to hear. I always like him as an actor, and he seemed to be a stand-up guy as well, even if he did rat out the guys in the barracks. :)

From the It's-A-Small-World department: I mentioned Graves' passing to a friend of mine, who replied that her mother used to babysit him and his brother when they lived in Minneapolis.

Yeah, his brother was Marshall Dillon.  I didn't know that until today.

Sad to see him go.  I always liked him.  Airplane was my favorite performance of his.

Would it be disrespectful to wonder if he was killed by a self-destructing tape?

But, yeah, great work on Airplane.

Until I saw "Airplane", I never saw Graves in a comedy.

Interestingly, I watched it last week.

"Joey, have you ever been in a... in a Turkish prison?"
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

Great Actor no matter the role.  From Stalag 17 to Mission Impossible to Airplane.

Is James still alive?  Years ago I was traveling from WDC to Dallas and as I was getting off the plane Peter was napping in a front row seat. Probably headed for la la land.

Oh crap.  Now I have to tell my mother - he was a year ahead of her at Washburn Sr. High School.  Now to go through the "I knew him when" stuff.
