Is the IRS slower this year?
« on: April 27, 2010, 03:24:40 PM »
I miscalculated and expect a refund of a little over a grand. I e-filed through Turbo tax on 4/11. The IRS says--snarkily--"We have received your tax return and it is being processed. Unless we find mistakes or you owe other taxes, you should receive your refund by May 11, 2010."

What happened to all those new IRS people from the stimulus? Training how to fine people under health care reform?

Odd.

I mailed ours in on April 10th.

We got our refund direct deposited yesterday.

Of course, two data points aren't really going to answer the question of whether they are slower, but my experience differs from yours.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

I did the e-file via TaxCut and had the direct deposit in the bank eight calendar days after filing.

I'm beginning to see a trend here. Why's mine taking a month? TT checked it with no errors and the IRS accepted it within 18 hours. HMmmm...

Snail-mail filed since I couldn't e-file... I did the new homebuyer tax credit and that mandates at least a cursory human examination of my tax paperwork.

I e-filed state and got it in about 10 days.

I got the fed return after about 3 weeks.

Looks like you're gonna meet some of those new employees, Leatherneck.  Hope they don't have any of those new 12ga shotguns we've been reading about! =D   [tinfoil]   >:D

Actually, if memory serves, you are a more or less conservative person working for the goobermint.  Doesn't that automatically flag you for an audit under an Obama administration?

its not that bad i survived 3 personal audits and 2 business.  and aside from the lil twitch when i hear the word audit i'm fine.  interestingly enough i didn't file for 14 years and when i resurfaced i expected some kinda reaction from them.  nada
It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

I filed through turbotax in March and got the check in the mail in about 2 weeks, faster than I expected.
