Impeach Obama?
« on: May 26, 2010, 08:20:09 PM »
Anyone following the Obama-Sestek-Specter love triangle?
Heard some interesting blither on talk radio today:
Blago calls Obama on the stand in his defense, and Obama is questioned about attempting to bribe Sestek.  Possibly Sestek is called to the stand as well.  Reasoning being that its a "see, this is how politcs works!" defense.  If Obama admits to attempting to bribe Sestek, could that open him up to impeachment?
Thoughts?

Never going to happen.
The Dems will label it a "racist witch hunt",  the media will follow their lead and it will go nowhere.

Open up to/be right to impeach? Perhaps, depending on the details.

Likely to happen? Hell no.
That is all. *expletive deleted*ck you all, eat *expletive deleted*it, and die in a fire. I have considered writing here a long parting section dedicated to each poster, but I have decided, at length, against it. *expletive deleted*ck you all and Hail Satan.

If Obama pulls a Bush and claims "executive privilege" immunity, it's a non-issue.  You can only impeach a President for high crimes.  If he keeps his mouth shut, there's no way he'd be impeached even if guilty.

I agree that there is no way Obama will ever testify about anything while he is president. Blago (something-vich) will be left swinging in the breeze.

There is no doubt in my mind that there was a bribe offered to Sestak, but until we see Obama on video overtly offering the bribe, nothing will happen.

Impeachment would imply the Republic is still working as designed.  It's not.  And none of what is going on now is going to be solved within the system.  Would that it could be.

And, conveniently, any talk of how to effectively solve it is deemed illegal and treasonous.

Impeachable offenses are treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.

I don't necessarily think its likely, either, but thought I'd open it up for discussion and see what I'm missing.

Impeachment designed to be a highly political and partisan process.  It will be used only when one side has sufficient political sway to force the issue down the throat of the opposition.  As much as I'd love to see the charges aired in a court of law nothing will happen because a political critical mass has not been achieved.

Sestak's silence about who offered the deal sure suggests he's trying to cover for someone - I'd like to see him questioned under oath. An answer will point the way to someone who may very well have violated the law in a major way, and silence will open Sestak to obstruction of justice charges.

If the post offered to Sestak is high enough that a Presidential appointment is called for, Obama could be in for a rough ride. Unless he gets someone to take the fall for him, he actually could be in trouble (Remember Nixon and the "third rate burglary case" called Watergate?)

Unfortunately, these things are media driven, and as long as the side with both the majority in office and media support is the one being accused, they'll be able to stonewall indefinitely. And far too much of the media loves Obama so much that they wouldn't turn on him even if authenticated videos of his involvement in a gay snuff film with ritualistic cannibalism surfaced.

And maybe not even then.  =(

Impeachment-and-conviction of Obama might be legally possible, but it sure as hell isn't politically possible, not without a civil war, and if we're going to have one of those, seriously, we don't need to pass through impeachment on the way just to give the mainstream media their last big ratings opportunity.  The fact is that legal process demands trust, and trust was a casualty of bad governance and worse citizenship some time ago.

When Nixon was impeached he resigned, people nowadays do not even know Billy J Clinton was impeached because he never left office.

Tricky Dick wasn't impeached.  Likely would have been if he hadn't resigned.

Well, the story now is that Bill Clinton spoke on behalf of the administration with Sestak about the offer. How exactly is that supposed to make things kosher? It's okay because Clinton was the messenger?

How soon before Sestak winds up dead from mysterious circumstances.  Such as "suicide" and the "murder" weapon is found several feet away.  Oh yeah and the bullet hole is in the back of his head.

Just thinking out loud.
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.
