Bargains on steel targets???

Local Gun Club may be in th emarket for some steel poppers. Who's got the best price & reasonable shipping??

If you want stuff made out of AR500. Or maybe just AR400 for "pistol only", IMO you're going to pay for it. The steel costs alone for those bullet resistant alloys are pretty steep.

Most places seem to be around $129-$150 just for a "popper" plate on a falling latch or spring base out of AR500 or similar.

Simple 12" disks for rifle gongs are a bit cheaper at about $100 or so.

He's about par, or even higher for the big 50% scale ISPC's on up though. $195 S&H not included.

I've bought from the Snipers Hide guy....quick shipping and easy to deal with.

He says it's AR500 and it probably is as I've shot it with 243 AI and 260 Rem at 100 yards with only a lead smear afterward.

I bought it for the 338 Lapua but have yet to put those bruins on it yet. Of course those shots won't be at 100 yards though.

There are no "bargains" in steel targets. You get what you pay for. (I've been researching and pricing steel targets for personal use).

the main thing is, don't buy anything that says it's for .22s, well maybe if your shooting air guns.

and these aren't steel, but they look interesting. seems like a bunch of people are making them now, i have no idea if the link is to a good one. the first page i saw them on is dead.

Also, if you'll look in the fine print on the box of the cheaper consumer grade steel targets (yes, the ones that say they are centerfire handgun or rifle rated and cost $40-50) you'll find that they have one very important little tidbit: Use with lead nose bullets only, no jacketed bullets.
