He's a Rebel. Despite some questionable ancestry in other branches (and we can't hold that against him, right?) he's a good old southern boy, properly descended from a Confederate soldier.

Just felt I needed to set the record straight, what with my chuckling over his heritage earlier. Smiley

Didn't know about that.

I'm a direct descendent of John Wilkes Booth.  Does that make me a rebel?

Well, My great grandparents were Claude and Maude Wilkes (weird names I know).  Supposedly, Claude was a descendant of John Wilkes Booth's mother, whose maiden name was Wilkes.

Family legend, I'm afraid. Wilkes was an old family name on the Booth side. John's mother's name was Mary Anne Holmes.

So, my great grandparents could not have been related to John Wilkes Booth?

Or maybe I got the relationship wrong.

My kid's mother is supposedly descended from Cap'n Kidd. Want to go for that one Barb?

Kid's mother is the daughter of Andrew Kidd who was the son of David Kidd who immigrated from Scotland early to mid 1900's. David resided in Hartford for most of his life. David was an outstanding gentleman to know. Unfortunately his genes didn't seem to pass on very well. Tongue

Ironic as well...no wonder some heads turned when my name was brought up in another location, or two- Still does when mentioned.

I just added some more locations on my own- family tradition ya understand?

How come no one ever claims to be related to a chicken farmer in Des Moines? Smiley

If there's a chicken farmer in Des Moines with the last name Kidd, I'll take that too...

it'd be great, "Sorry, no Cap'n Kidd in there anywhere ex wife, best I could come up with was a chicken farmer..."

So, what's going on with Steve???

I'd roll up my shirtsleeves but the IRS and IDoR keep taking my shirt!:D

I'm descended from a wheelwright (he repaired wagons) in the 11th Indiana Infantry during the Civil War.

Everyone else on the Errornet was descended from an officer, all Southerns are descended from generals I've noted.Cheesy

I found a questionable ancestor in the sm family tree and had to poke around until I was able to find him a good solid decorated CSA soldier to make up for it. All is well, and we've agreed that sm is a good southern boy, despite any yankees who might have weasled their way into his family in the past.

I'm not descended from him, but one of my ancestors served as a substitute for your governor Noble in the War of 1812.

Basically I was lied to.

Family has been stepping and fetching whenever family history came up.  Paternal side crazier than road ticks, and the worst ones about deceiving and lying. Maternal side is better...most of what I believe is from folks from that grew up with my kinfoks and have roots going back a long time in that area- settled same time and all.

Going to sound dumb. I have no kids. I am single.  I have my reasons for firing my family, all except mom. Rarely do I get to hear from a couple of neices or nephews - seems I am wrong about Freedoms and Tyranny.

I 'may' someday .... these kids,  they should have the truth, I am sure they will ask. For damn sure their parents will indoctrinate best can that which I do not believe in...nor most of here on APS. I will be able to tell them the truth.

They have Rights [even if parents say otherwise on matters] by golly they have a right to know truths.

I am the Rebel, black sheep, whatever - because all my life, I have chosen  to not live in cuffs, chains, or whatever - family thinks giving up liberties for freedom is fine.

I am wrong for working for Preservtion of Freedoms and Fighting Tyranny.  This is one reason I am a Rebel to family, friends and others...since fired by me of course.
I Rebelled at an early age,  never stopped, not going to either.

Now I may be a Southern Boy, does not mean I have not  stopped - and I do continue to support those all over, even above the Mason- Dixon on Preservation of Freedoms , Fighting Tyranny. Either in attendence or in support.

Not sure how good my letter to New Zealand did...
But the one from Indiana was real nice, and polite...
The note from WI was handwritten in gorgeous fountain pen, even had the "dusting" to keep ink from smearing on the nice parchment type paper...

Just needed some truth for a change in regard to family stuff...
