History in my hands...
« on: September 07, 2010, 09:09:47 PM »
By a stroke of unfortunate good fortune, I've come into possession of both a very nice 03A3 Springfield and a beautiful original No. 5 Mk I jungle carbine. I'm a happy boy. No camera, or I'd post pics.

All I need now is ammo and stripper clips.

Nope, they are unsafe and defective.  Please send them to me for proper disposal.    =D

I'm glad/sorry to hear about you unfortunate good luck.  Pics please.

My best friend's father passed away a while back.  =( They were part of his collection and the family was looking for good homes. I'll just try to take proper care of them. The wood on the carbine is gorgeous, with a luster from oiling/handling and very nice grain figure. The Springfield has the ugly simplicity of a purpose-built tool.

You sure it's not the other way around?   ???

Don't misunderstand. I love the clean lines of the '03. This stock is flat drab, making it look particularly rugged. The Enfield stock would look good on a custom sporter.

I may be able to come off of an original bandoleer and stripper clips. I have two more still full, I hate to tamper with history, but the SL 43 in them goes bang in my Garand quite nicely.

I'm so contrarian that I didn't respond to the thread.

Oh, OK, you just had me really confused for a minute there.  =)

Sad good fortune, indeed, Sadshooter.  There must be some mixed emotions there.
Those are some fine firearms.  I've wanted to add an '03 to my meager collection for years.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.
