Suicide bombing in Stockholm

One man is dead and another two wounded after a suicide bombing in central Stockholm yesterday. The bomber seems to have been (fortunatly for us) incompetent and thus only one of the six (reported) pipebombs in his backpack exploded . (and also what might've been perhaps a propane canister in what is supposedly his car).

There was probably one in his car as well (propane canisters), as well as a backpack full of nails and a suspicious substance.
Oh, and apparently he didn't die immedietly . I hope it hurt like hell.

Fact:

Hundreds more Islamists have been killed rioting, blowing themselves up, etc. over the Mohammed toons of various description than any victims they managed to kill by said rioting and self-explosion. Brian Blessed is a british comic actor famous for his.... outgoing attitude and massive beard.

A Life of Mohammad film would make the failorrists riot, get shot, and explode in droves.

Yea, the Japanese lost a war like that. That's pretty much my supposition on the entire mess. Eventually they will run out of people willing to strap bombs to themselves. I imagine the moderate Muslim people are pretty well sick of it too.

There's other flaws in their plan as well. The expected the entire Muslim world to jump their aid and defeat the infidels once and for all. I was waiting for it myself. Seems as though that was a miscalculation on their part. Then, the had us figured for paper tigers. Maybe we just like to be cool and turn the other cheek a few times until you finally piss us off.   

 

I'll bet it surprises them that every day more of us volunteer to go over there and deal with them. I expected us to need to implement a new draft at some point to fill the billets but that hasn't happened either. I wonder what Osama is thinking these days. He wants to make a big hit something awful I'll bet. Just to show he's not out of the game yet. The best thing we can pray for is don't let them get their hands on the bomb somehow. But we all knew that already so I preach to the choir. So sorry...

A CGI version, albeit more cartoony would be just the thing. And it would be sufficiently easy to anonomize it's production so we don't have to expend large amounts of time/money on security for the producers/actors etc.

If you're up on your sci-fi, I'm thinking something analogous (in the broad sense) to what the Puppeteers did to the Kzinti.  

If we could do this on a regular basis, provoke enough "scream and leap", despite any ancillary death/destruction it causes, we're ALWAYS better off goading the enemy into action, rather than waiting on him to choose the time.

While the logic is sound, sadly I don't think the Western world (yet) has the gumption to soundly thrash the screaming beards each time they get it into their heads to be Hereos martyrs.

Well, it's kind of the flipside of what the Islamists are doing.

They engage in asymmetrical warfare in an attempt to escalate the situation until their client/sponsor states have no choice but get involved in the great final jihad or whatever. (Which largely fails, because even the worst of their client/sponsor states have heavy investments in the status quo, to go beyond some funding, material supply, and using them as low grade proxy war.)

My idea of an inflammatory CGI movie is well within the means of a private group. It would escalate the Islamists and get our client states involved. That side of it is easier, because the .gov generally has no choice but to respond to security threats such a cartoon/movie would generate.

Plus as Micro pointed out, the Islamists tend to get themselves killed just in the preparatory phase A LOT.

A town I lived in until I turned 19 and joined the Army had a sort of service where a Muslim man would pass through certain areas of town - there wasn't a mosque - shouting Allahu Aqbar and calling the faifthul to prayer. He did this in the early morning and probably at other times of the day as well.
