Well, that's what we get for providing, by force of arms and a strong state, pax Americana, one of the longest periods in modern history where serious violence did not touch the homeland of a powerful nation.  Product, ungrateful bastards who decry what got us here.

A lot of it is illusory.  We've been doing violence, as a nation, to our personal liberties for decades.  And we've had plenty of social violence around the margins, in many ways.  While America grew its GDP it also lost much of its identity, much of its soul.  There are still plenty of good, smart, moral Americans, but there are a whole lot who aren't.

Shouldn't it be "climate of hatred"? I don't know if "hate" as a noun is grammatically incorrect, or if I just get tired of seeing any sensible opinion on any subject labeled as "hate."

I usually avoid getting into entrenched political fights with people who are never going to adjust their positions, but I sure have been tempted to work on coming up with such a list.  Don't know enough modern history to come up with a good one though.

Obviously a very secure place: Pionen . From what I've understood, it was designed to withstand a near hit, or possibly a direct hit by a nuclear weapon .
