Music
« on: January 30, 2011, 02:52:28 AM »
Can’t but sure, but I do believe that I just caught my cat enjoying and grooving to some music.

Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir.”

Anyone else notice similar?

Never saw a cat grooving to Zeppelin, but that's a damn good song..

We sing to the dogs all day. We just make it up as we go along.   =D

+1

I make up little 4-line or so dittys for the girls to amuse them.

They also obviously enjoy some kinds of music other than my stuff.  They react well to most classical.  It can be full orchestra, or trios or quartets.  Rockwise, they seem to prefer more prog-rock stuff.  I have never paid attention to their response to "Kashmir", but that would fit the profile for what they like.  I'm pretty proud of them.  They have good musical taste.

I used to like to play Pink Floyd's "Dogs" track for my dog to watch her look at the speaker, furrow her brow and cock her head trying to figure out the electronic barking noises.  Classic dog body language for WTF?!?

My dog would have to wake up first.   The only times he's awake is:
1.  To Eat
2.  To Crap
3.  To change sleeping positions.

Given that he's 11, napping is what seniors do best.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

You just described a Greyhounds life except for the "running around the yard at 40mph for a few minutes" part!

Our first dog Tessa got all excited when my wife would play certain songs. Tess liked "Shake Your Moneymaker" in particular.

Yup.
Tyler (1989-1992) would howl along.
Jeep (1995-2008)  would dash about, nervously, and look out the windows.  Later in life, he'd just raise his head in acknowledgement.  Jeep gave upchasing the laser across the carpet at a young age, too.

I always wondered what the reaction would be to "Several Small Species Grooving"

Mine just lay there.  If they were closed before, the eyes will open.  At certain parts an eyebrow will raise.  But the head as a whole will not move.  There are no body twitches, no tail thumps.

My dog completely ignores music and TV.  The only thing that gets a rise out of her is if somebody knocks on a door or rings a door bell in the show.
