CBS Finally Climbs On-board the Project Gunrunner Story
« on: February 24, 2011, 09:19:23 AM »
And HERE'S THE VIDEO of their newscast.

Sipsey Street Irregulars and readers of David Codrea's Examiner column have followed this heinous act by ATF from the beginning.  Please contact your legislators and ask them to join Senator Grassley and others in their efforts to run this to the ground.

It's nice to see that this is finally getting some coverage, and you know, I'm actually stunned at the accuracy of the reporter. Not once did they use the term "Assault Weapon" and instead used the accurate descriptor of "semi-automatic versions of military style rifles"

So, the ATF knew of THOUSANDS of guns they deliberately let "walk" into Mexico.

Then, when they do these courtesy "traces" for the Federales down there for seized guns... surprise surprise!  They came from gun stores in the US (most notably Lone Wolf in Phoenix).

All because the ATF allowed them to go in the first place.

Sounds like we've got an enforcement problem that is self-manufactured in an effort to either score more legislation and/or more funding for the BATFEIEIO boys.

F-troop earned their "F" on this one.

It almost makes me wonder if someone was on the take.   [tinfoil]

And at the end of the video: "In a letter the Justice Department says the ATF has never knowingly allowed the sale of assault weapons to suspected gunrunners."

First, let's clear up something. I'm not Sam Kersh and (fortunately for his sake) he isn't me. Probably the best thing that ever happened to him, since some folks believe Workman is a "no-one" and one guy had me confused with Larry Pratt over at GOA.

Sam and I have, to my knowledge, never met, but he's a stalwart gun rights advocate.

Yes, I've been a member here for a while, but typically lurk without even logging in. It's been kind of amusing reading some of the things people say about me.

=======================================

It's nice (and gratifying for Codrea and Vanderboegh, who busted their butts on this) that CBS has taken a hard look at this story because it is a story the public has a right to know about, for any number of reasons.

Codrea and Vanderboegh kicked over the right rocks. Codrea is the National Gun Rights Examiner. There are about 20 of us around the country, focusing on local stuff (I'm in the Seattle area) of doing local angles on national stories.

I came in on this story after being able to establish kind of a local tie-in, and after reading the court documents on the Gunrunner arrests, and other related documents, there is real red meat here.
Keep this in perspective: for months, officials in the Obama admin tried real hard to blame firearms dealers and gun laws for the violent drug cartel wars in northern Mexico, despite ample evidence that the argument was bogus. True, there are U.S. guns in Mexico, and that's not a good thing.

However, because of this Gunrunner scandal, questions are now being properly raised about how a lot of those guns got there.

And there IS that nasty little matter of Brian Terry's murder.

Some folks think they have this figured out. If so, I sure wish they'd share that with me and Codrea. And maybe CBS' Sharyl Atkisson, who did a terrific report the other night and I hope there is a follow-up.

Some good people in ATF are embarrased and angry about this, and especially about the allegation that officials in Phoenix tried to silence whistleblowers.

Keep reading Codrea's stuff on this, and mine if you can choke it down. I suspect there is much more to this story to be revealed.

For the record, there is no crossover between Kersh and Workman and I can confirm Workman has been a member here since 2007, longer than Kersh.  Therefore, the insinuations stop here.

Glad you posted, Mr. Workman, and thanks for your work on behalf of the cause. Sorry about the mix-up earlier.
