Money matters...
« on: April 02, 2011, 10:25:54 AM »
Hi, Mike Brady here,

I got a lot of silver in various forms that I picked up when silver was ~ $5 / oz. Now it is pushing $38/oz. Should I cash it all in and put it into my indexing mutual fund based account? I'm thinking silver can't go much higher and if the economy starts to turn up like it should fairly soon mutual funds might start to trend up.

Thoughts?

Cash it all in, and take that Hawaiian vacation you've been thinking of.

Sell it, then buy back in with half of your "winnings" if it goes below $30 and shows signs of moving up.

Sell the overwhelming majority of it.  If you're worried about it maybe going higher, just say 80% of the total or start selling in medium sized batches.  But honestly, you'd be more than fine if you dumped the whole lot.

Sell it. Replace with hookers and coke. Winning!

Give it to me and I will make you a very nice ring out of it.  Granted, I will keep any excess as payment for my time. =D

Actually, sell them on ebay.  Pre 65 coins, dimes, quarters, etc., are going for roughly 25 times face value.  Eagles can go for a lot higher than spot depending on rarity of the year and condition.  1oz bars are going for spot.  The key to this is that you only pay ebay/paypal fees about 15%.  This is more than a dealer will pay and Uncle Sam doesn't need to know.

Wouldn't you want to save some of it, just in case you need to cast some silver bullets some day?

WTF?

Why did I collect baseball cards as a child? Did some coin-collecting, too... must dig up my silver.

Oh, I have some baseball cards too.

I appreciate the reminder to save a little for silver bullets. Excellent advice, I might have sold it all. Ok, so if I understand you all correctly, I should sell 80%, put 1/2 of it into mutuals, 25% towards coke and hookers and 25% to Raspberry so he can have some coke and hookers too. Is that about it?  =)

Wonder if I can find any etching equipment for cheap. I think my coins would double in value if I wrote "Ron Paul" on them.  :P

Also, what grade of hooker can I rent for $200-250?

Maybe this? Could even be cheaper, don't know. Maybe she charges more than that because she has her own website. ;)

Yeah. Those hosting fees are high.
