how much for virus cleanup and hard drive replacement?
« on: March 31, 2011, 09:49:47 AM »
Friends son did this for me and i think hes asking way less than the going rate. Id like to pay him appropriately and let his charity go toward someone more needing of it. He billed me one hour of labor.

You guess right.

Virus/malware, anymore, is usually an hour or so of time, stretched out over half a day or so.  (No need to babysit the various scans.  Tag it off and walk away.)

New hard disk, depends on what needs to get done.  Cheapest is to clone a healthy drive to a new and bigger disk.  45 min or so.  OS repair, reinstall, data recovery, all are more.
