Couple of questions on Crimson Trace Grips.
« on: April 25, 2011, 04:58:30 PM »
I have a couple of questions about CTC grips if anyone here uses them.

I got my cool box from MonkeyLeg today, and actually read the instructions. Crazy I know.  I noticed that CTC thoughtfully provided me with two little warning stickers to put on my Sig. (Because, you know if you're in front of my pistol coherent light is what you should be worried about) So first question, did anyone actually put these warnings on your pistol?  If so was it a Ruger? I know it's undoubtedly a lawyer thing, but still.

Second question:  (actual question here)
I reasonably taken with these grips.  Enough so that I would consider a LaserGuard for my P238.  On the other hand the whole point of a mouse gun is that it's small.  Has anyone slapped A Laser guard on a pocket .380 (LCP, TCP, P3AT, P238) and if so did it 1.) make the gun noticeably more bulky? and 2.) make the gun not fit in pocket holsters?

TIA

*Also I didn't realize it when I ordered but Crimson Trace has a rebate thingy going on 'till 30 June.  $50 back. So my cost on these SP2022 grips will be like $218. Not bad considering LGS is selling them for MSRP+tax (like $375). So if you have been thinking about it, or are on the fence, now's the time.  Hit up www.gunshopfinder.com.

He sent me some Vibram Five Fingers. Pretty cool once you got used to them.

And in answer to the original question, no, I don't think anybody puts the laser sticker on the CTC grips. It would probably just come off in the holster or succumb to pocket lint etc. in short order anyway.

I prefer to put the laser warning stickers on random consumer devices that do not normally have lasers in them, but where finding the sticker might cause undue confusion and alarm, like say, on the office kitchen microwave, one of my co-worker's wireless phone headsets, or the hand dryer in the men's room.  =)
I promise not to duck.

You shouldn't have a problem using a pocket holster. As for bulk, the Laserguard adds something like an ounce or two. Very little weight.

I don't think anybody puts the stickers on. Maybe people who don't tear the tags off of mattresses. ;)

Thanks for the heads-up on the rebate, dogmush. I've been dithering over getting CTs for my S&W 65. This may cause me to act.

I've put CTC on both my S&W 649 and my Kahr PM9.  Both still pocket quite nicely.  It does change the outline of the PM9, so that a standard pocket holster for it won't work anymore, but you can get pocket holsters cut to fit easily enough.

I have CT grips on a couple of my revolvers, the smallest being an S&W 340Sc . . . not quite a mousegun. The grips cover the backstrap and add about 1/4" to the grip length, but the gun still fits in the pocket of my "casual" pants.

No laser warning sticker . . .

I have a Simply Rugged pocket holster for my LCR with Monkeyleg supplied CT, and it fits muy bueno. The CT grips are a little skinnier than the stock grips on the LCR, so the little extra that the laser sticks out isn't much different than the width with stock grips.

I think he's talking more about the integrated laser triggerguard (as seen on many Ruger LCPs) than laser grips.
