Any video gurus or demigods available for questioning?

Demi Moore will do...  >:D

Anyhoo, I need to make a top quailty live video with sound which means I need to locate and rent top quality equipment all of which I know absolutely nothing about. What can anybody tell me about this? I think I'd want to do one camera using the KISS method of production. It's for a band's press release package and is to be sent to potential clients.

Any decent HD video cam will do.  The big deal is on-set lighting and sound.  Get a wireless mic (enough for all the actors, plus a sound board to mix them) and plent of lights or refelectors (cheapo automotive sun shields are great for this).

I know it sounds like it would be more expensive, but you'd be far better off to contact a local video production company.  They have all the equipment, lighting, and EXPERIENCE to make a top quality vid.  You'll be far better off in the end, and potential clients far more impressed with the result.

It's just an outdoor venue and I would set the camera up to film the stage. When I say top quality I mean playback quality. I know the results from low quality cameras produce low quality picture, I want it to have good picture quality. I don't need an epic film or anything. Though I could probably find something for Charlton Heston to do if I had to. "Here Charlton, hold this Winchester and just stand off to the side of the stage there."  >:D

I do understand hiring a company would be better but the budget is,,, there is no budget.
