Serenity
« on: May 15, 2011, 11:08:06 PM »
My neighbor knitted me a Jayne hat.  I'll post a picture as soon as I download it from my phone.

Watched Serenity tonight after dinner.

I cry when Wash is killed.  =(

Want moar.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Is the hat cunning?

Everyone dies alone.
Freedom is a heavy load, a great and strange burden for the spirit to undertake. It is not easy. It is not a gift given, but a choice made, and the choice may be a hard one. The road goes upward toward the light; but the laden traveller may never reach the end of it.  - Ursula Le Guin

Now that you got the hat, don't forget the grenades.
I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.

We're watching the movie, not occupying it.

It do be fun to use the chinese and other phrases taken from Firefly and use in everyday speech.  Gose, ruttin', gorram, shiney, etc.

You either get the look of complete befuddlement or the shock of recognition.

I work with a guy named Shayne, and every once in a while I can't help but sing, "Shayne, the man they call Shaaaayne..."

I've been known to use that in everyday conversations when i'm in the midst of a Firefly binge.

But I don't really talk muuch to people that don't know me, and the people that know me don't bat an eye at my somewhat odd vocabulary choices anymore.

Which reminds me... I need to call someone a trollop today....

I've used "my days of not taking you seriously are coming to a middle" at least twice at work....

I hear Mabs is about....  =D
Impressed yet befogged, they grasped at his vivid leading phrases, seeing only their surface meaning, and missing the deeper current of his thought.

One of these days I'm going to have to watch some of that stuff. ???
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Yes, yes you really do.

Watch about half of "The Message" with my son tonight.  I've got a Jayne hat, and now he wants one.

There's no place you can be once you find serenity.
