Motorcycle insurance costs
« on: May 21, 2011, 03:26:20 PM »
I just renewed my annual policy with Progressive.

2004 Aprilia Scarabeo maxi scooter
2008 Suzuki DR650

$ 300,000 liability/uninsured motorist, comp and collision for $ 429 per year.

How does this compare with what others are paying?  I like to keep all my liability and property insurance with the same company, but my liability/property insurer does not write motorcycles, so my broker placed me with Progressive. I also have to have a minimum of $ 300,000 liability limits for my personal umbrella policy.

That seems high, i pay about that for my cbr1000 in the dc area with state farm.  I've found if you have a clean record, SF has the lowest bike insurance.

I pay $230/year for my 03 Suzuki SV1000S with comp and collision from American Family, and my KLR650 is $85/year for liability.
A plan is just a list of things that doesn't happen.
Is defenestration possible through the overton window?

I've been around $350 a year with Dairyland (Sentry) for as long as I can remember. I'd have to pull out the policy for the coverage limits, but they're up there where I'm comfortable with them. Uninsured/underinsured motorist, etc. This is for my 1989 Harley. I don't have any other bikes.
