All I can say is that I own two Taurus pistols (9 mm and .380) and three Taurus revolvers (.38 and .357), all bought new within the past five years, and none of them have ever given me any problems despite hundreds of rounds each.

That's the thing about Taurus....if you buy a model they've made for several years (PT92, 85, 605, etc.), you'll usually get a good one. The newer models seem to have a lot of problems with QC. And, with the many complaints I've read about their customer service and shipping costs, I'd sooner let a local gunsmith fix it than ship to Taurus.

Strangely, the 94 .22lr revolvers seem to have a LOT of QC problems.... http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=450251

You know, I just remembered a friend of mine who might be selling his 38/357mag levergun.  I *think* it's a Puma though.

I'll ask him.  If he is indeed selling it, I can get you two together.  It would require a transfer as he's in Virginia though.

That reminds me. A few weeks ago, the wife and I took a CCW course. For the live-fire segment of the class, we used the instructor's Buckmark, and his Taurus .22 revolver. It was a stainless model, 6" barrel (I think) and had about a ten-round cylinder. I assume it was the model 94 you're talking about. The double-action trigger pull was so heavy that most of the class resorted to thumb-cocking. I fired most of its chambers double-action, but one of the chambers just wouldn't allow it. If I thumb-cocked that chamber, it would fire just fine, but trying it double-action was just about impossible.

I had the same experience with a 4" 94 I had back in the late 90s.

To be fair, I had a similar issue with my S&W Model 10. A gunsmith was able to smooth out one of the ratchets, but when I pull the trigger slowly, I notice it is still a tad heavier on that chamber. That being said, my Smith has had fifty years to acquire that problem, so I don't think it left the factory that way.

I wouldn't mind a Puma if it didn't have that silly plastic "safety" right on top of the receiver :(

After reading some about Pumas on the Marlin forum, I think I will pass on them.   =(

Of course, the "Remlins" aren't much good now, either.

Found a .30-30 locally on Armslist for $300

Seller says its a Sears - Winchester 94 (that should be back a few years).

Sent a message and will see what happens...

Want to buy a genuine Weaver-made, Sears "Ted Williams" signature branded, 4x fixed power scope from the early '60s to go with it?

Not for a 94  =(

Maybe, if it was a 336

$700!? Crikey.  I got a Marlin 1894C in .357 for $420 back in 2004 or so.

That is one fun gun to shoot, too.

$400ish is about what I paid for my 1894C back around 2002.  I guess I should be glad I bought it then.  :O

Yeah, and I thought that was a ridiculous amount of money at the time, because you could buy a new Marlin 336 30-30 with a scope and sling for $269
