Quote
A 4-year-old boy who was fatally shot while fishing with his father in northeastern Indiana was struck in the head by an errant bullet, a sheriff and a family friend said.

Forty-six-year-old neighbor Bruce Pond was being held without bond on a preliminary charge of reckless homicide and due to appear in court Monday. Fisher told the Bluffton News-Banner alcohol was involved and Pond apparently shot at a light on the pier where the father and son were fishing.

This is so sad. Disgusting recklessness and so sad. So many lives ruined because of stupidity.
I’m not saying I invented the turtleneck. But I was the first person to realize its potential as a tactical garment. The tactical turtleneck! The… tactleneck!

"I think it was just a freak accident," Ulmer said.
No, this was no accident.  Not even close if that happened as described.

It is nuts that some people will jump to conclusions that a person is guilty in some cases yet refuse to assign blame in others.

  • I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

shooting at a light? his lights need to be shot at, terrible, condolences to the family.
The unimaginable pain they're in, awful!
Politicians and bureaucrats are considered productive if they swarm the populace like a plague of locust, devouring all substance in their path and leaving a swath of destruction like a firestorm. The technical term is "bipartisanship".

Thoughts, in no special order:

1) "Errant bullet" and "freak accident" my Aunt Fanny's posterior!

2) "Negligent" in the legal sense does not cover it.  "Gross negligence" is still short of what it should be - "wanton recklesness".

3) Why are they bringing up all the oter kids who recently got shot?  Do they think these things occur in set strings and once the magic number is reached these shootings/deaths will stop?

4) "The shooting came just one day after a 4-year-old boy from Cedar Lake, in northwest Indiana's Lake County, accidentally shot himself at a suburban Chicago liquor store."  How does a 4-year-old get hold of a gun in a suburban Chicago liquor store?  Aren't those things restricted to gangbangers?

5)  .  Just  .

stay safe.
If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege.

Hey you kids!! Get off my lawn!!!

They keep making this eternal vigilance thing harder and harder.  Protecting the 2nd amendment is like playing PACMAN - there's no pause button so you can go to the bathroom.
