HARMONICA
« on: July 31, 2011, 06:41:08 PM »
I just got a harmonica (about 7 years ago), and want to learn to play it.
I'm sure with all the other rednecks up here someone knows how to play one.
Anyone got any beginner tips?  Books or something?

You blow through the holes.
A plan is just a list of things that doesn't happen.

  • I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

usually you get a book with the harmonica, if not I'm sure youtube has some vids.
Be sure you know what key its in.

I should get one too

My instrument of choice is guitar...right now.
As money permits I will be expanding my collection quite a lot.
It's C, diatonic...I think, no whammy bar or whatever you call it.
No book came with it, and Youtube videos are nice, but I'd like to know how to do more than just play from tabs.

yea, I play everything every day.
And rather than just 'books' I was hoping someone would recommend a specific book or two.
Nobody?

When you say "but I'd like to know how to do more than just play from tabs," are you saying you also want to learn how to read sheet music as well as learn specific harmonica techniques such as tremolo, note bending, etc?
