Stargate Question
« on: August 12, 2011, 02:20:35 AM »
After enjoying "Stargate Universe," I've started watching the entire Stargate series from SG-1 season 1.

I have a question:

There's a front side to a Stargate that everyone seems to use.  It's the side with the chevrons used for navigation.

Does anyone ever explore what happens if you enter a stargate from the "back" side that has no chevrons?

Probably not more than 2-3 Stargate episodes I haven't seen and I can't recall that ever being brought up.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Simple.  You can't.  The wormhole is one-way.

No wait, that's not tech enough.  The event horizon, formed from the naquadah in the gate, only allows matter to pass in a singledirection due to it's unidirectional curvature of the space time continuum, resulting in an ever increasing force that repels objects attempting to travel through the other side.

That can't be right or they would have found a way to use that to save the planet in the last 5 minutes of the show.

I don't recall anyone ever trying that, but I would assume the same thing happens that occurs if you stand in front of the wormhole when it opens. (You die and leave behind a smoking pair of feet, cut off at the ankles.)
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

...and it's only two-dimensional....it doesn't have a "back side".....

I only watch the episodes of SG1 with Claudia Black in them.  She is a hottie that takes the stuffiness out of the rest of the cast.....chris3

Claudia Black is in Stargate?

She's the gal from Farscape, right?

There were one or two episodes where they showed the back side.  It looked like a funnel sticking out.

Yes, she was there for the last season (or 2? I didn't get to watch those.)

Bra'tac should have been put in charge of SG Command....

Every time anything looked like it was going south Bra-tac kept trying to go all kamikaze.  The show would have ended in Season 2 with a mushroom cloud in colorado if he were in charge!

Yeah, by using the dakara device...set it for goa'uld, extra crispy.  Though, I would have suggested waiting until they discovered tratonin...and a way to protect the tok'ra...otherwise the collateral damage would have been severe :(

I liked the first 4 seasons. They kept it funny and didn't take themselves too seriously.

Yep.  I dig the "MacGuyver" reference in the pilot, and in season two when O'Neill gerry-rigs some batteries to the glorified fish tank for the G'ould.
