I have two main workbenches.
The first is an ex-Navy electronics bench. About 7'X3' the top is 1 1/2" laminated wood, and the backsplash is grey metal and wired for AC/DC power. I don have a pic of it but it's pretty good. I use it for gun-building/smithing and reloading.
When I needed more I built my own. It's a combination work/welding bench. The legs are 4x4, the top and bottom support are 2x3 steel angle iron the shelf on the bottom is 2x8 bolted to the angle. The shelf holding up the welders is 1/2 marine starboard with 1" angle supports, and I built the welding top from a piece of 1/2" steel plate. The wood top is 2X6 rough-cut pine, glued together, then drilled through on a plane with the top and bolted with 5 5/8" all thread pieces. Then I sanded it, routed the edges and put a gallon of Spar-thane Marine Polyurethane on it. It took me some time and effort to build but it's pretty dang solid. I have rebuilt transmissions and outboards up there. The under bench tool boxes hold my sockets and ratchets, and if I need to fab, just flip the switch, and open the bottle and either welder is up and running. Overall dimensions is 9'6"X2'6". Wood top is 6'6" long and the welding area is 3'. before you ask, I have no idea what it weighs. I built it in place. The welding top is about 175# by itself.
**Note, since I took those pictures, I dropped three more outlets on the wall behind it, and mounted the Ar bottle for my TIG welder.
