Tallpine, you know about this guy? Griz shooter in court

Guy's son shoots griz with rifle, on private 20 acre plot of land, in self defense.

The only questionable bit about it?

-This griz has been after the family pigs in the past, and therefore there is "motive" to kill the griz already
-No tangible, immediate threat, other than general proximity.

No report on the distance of the shot, nor the distance of the bear to family members.

No, but we have friends in that immediate area.  Haven't heard from them in a while, though.

There was a guy convicted of shooting a griz in MT a while back, but he also was collecting the claws.  ;/

Most of the time it gets ruled to be "justifiable ursicide"

The fact that it previously went after his pigs is not questionable to me.  If the bear thinks there is easy food there, it will be more likely come back.  20 acres is not all that big.

Really.  We have 40 and it seems almost like a postage stamp to me now.

  • I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.
