Costume for Comic Con- Advice on idea saught
« on: September 05, 2011, 03:42:45 PM »
I figure this is a good place to go for advice.

I'm in the mood for a Lovecraft homage.

I was thinking a Doctor's Labcoat with some embroidery.

My friend keeps threatening to go to a con dressed as Man-Faye or Man-Revy.  That would result in the loss of some sanity points.

My most elaborate costume was a t-shirt with an iron-on logo, the Section Nine symbol from GitS: SAC.  My dream costume is a 100% correct Colonial Marine Corps uniform, armor set, and M41A prop rifle.  Considering the fact that the camo pattern used was created for the film, I know I could never be completely accurate, but I could get pretty close.  It would still be serious $$$.

I always thought that'd make a good Halloween costume too.  I even planned out a hilarious xenomorph costume for my black kitty.

And run into the 15 other Dr. Horribles?

How about a triffid?  (or is "retro" not cool?)

I would love it, especially if I got a workable whip, but that would definitely be a lot more work than just ordering a coat online.

If I went as authentic as possible... I think I would be barred from the convention center.  Lax as the decency rules are....

I have a religious rule about non functional weapons, which would probably hinder going to such a con.  Still planning on making an Assassins' Creed costume.   The hidden blades are a problem due to switchblade laws....

Not to mention in order to go hard core with your costume you would have to lop a finger off.  :O Speaking of Halloween costumes, I am currently working on putting together a Kolchak: The Night Stalker costume. I in fact just picked up the shoes today, Adidas Stan Smiths. Got real lucky with finding those. I recently discovered a website that is all about prop making and there is a thread about what he wore and used here, http://www.therpf.com/f9/kolchak-night-stalker-his-gear-113421/

To me, the cranking on mine is pretty effortless, at least on the coarse setting. Maybe if someone has arthritis or something, it would be more difficult for them." - Ben

Paul Verhoven is on my permanent "Beat on sight" list for that abortion of a film. And his willful misunderstanding of RAH's "skin in the game" form of limited franchise republic that Earth had become.

I don't think the film anything any serious sci-fi or fantasy fan should ever cosplay, reenact, or celebrate.
I promise not to duck.

But with a little purple paint, they can be Alliance.
