A sham. Or four.
« on: September 20, 2011, 02:55:42 PM »
Shams.Pillow shams. What a sham. No really. Bought kiddo and I some really nice bed clothes. The graphic on the website pointed out "pillow shams". Ok. Pillow fakes. Fake pillows to look nice on top of the spread. Got it. 'Cept they aren't pillows. Pillowcases. Sham pillowcases. Pillowcase sham. Where the rip are the pillows? I took one of the pillowcases into Target and the chick was (after I explained it 700 times) "I dunno". Tried Hobby Lobby. They said try Target.

This is one of them deals where you women try to drive us single guys batty, right?

Pillow Shams=fancy pillowcases.  You still have to supply your own pillows.

Yeah, I figured that part out finally...problem is I can't find the bleedin' pillows of the right size. "Try queen, try full, try twin, try that. Try this." Someone mentioned taking them by a fabric store. Shudder.  :O I figured Hobby Lobby was close enough. I still have nightmares of being dragged through fabric stores by Grandma, when I should have been playing with my toy guns.

Queen size fit perfectly in all of the pillowcases. Queen sized bed and bedding, I guess that figures. The sham pillowcases loooked so much smaller, though...
I'm not spending any more money. That's just...I'm not...$100 some bucks for pillows for two beds is ridiculous. I'm done. ;/

Did you get the bed skirts also?  :P >:D

1) Why do beds need skirts? and 2) Really?!?! fake pillows I'm not allowed to put my head on, for decoration in a room that is really isn't  "open to the public", WTF?

Beats me, though I must say the beds look really nice and are incredibly comfortable. Funny, this will be the first time (at 42) I have ever purchased sheets and blankets and all. Well, that match, anyway. Ma usually sent a couple sets at Xmas. She knows me too well.

lol. First time I moved out for months I was using my sleeping bag on my bed. My roommate eventually went out and bought me some sheets and blanket. Even now, I got a blase on base and it was about a month before I got sheets for my bed, still no blankets. I would just sleep in my uniform and through my coat over me. Of course I got queen sheets when I should of got a full  Oh well, close enough.

Years and years ago, I dated a woman who had about 15 decorative pillows on her bed.  The thing was, they had to be placed on the bed in a certain arrangement.  She had a photo in her nightstand showing the pillow arrangement.  Between the placement, and adjusting the angle and getting things just so, this added five minutes to making the bed.  It did look stunning though; like something Martha Stewart would do and put in a magazine.  I never saw the point.

Before I left home at 17 to go to school, I bought a half dozen sets of sheets.  My mom was very proud.

When she came up to visit and saw that I had put all six on the bed and were peeling off one per week and then washing them all at the same time, she almost fainted.

Apparently that's not the way you're supposed to do it.

And I had regular blankets,, but I actually preferred the OD green wool ones that I had been issued by my reserve unit.  I still wish I had some.
