Dead Island- New Zombie Game- Awesome Cinematic

http://youtu.be/lZqrG1bdGtg

If you haven't watched it yet, I do recommend it. [Even if not a gamer]

Island resort with a zombie outbreak, Worst Vacation Ever... or knowing this group, Best

Mix of Grand theft auto sandbox gameplay and Dead Rising weapon combo fun, with some rpg character upgrades tossed in too.

Steam is having a 4 pack for $150, otherwise $50 apiece.

If there are 3 other folks interested, I'd be happy to enjoy the 4 pack savings [25%]

I also saw a 15% pre-order discount at green man gaming.  No special deal on Impulse.

Two days to still enjoy the pre-order specials.

Tempting.  Very tempting.  If you get two more people on board and twist my arm a little, I may be convinced.

Man... I remember seeing preview screenshots of this game in an article way back in 2007. "New Zombie survival game Dead Island- Coming soon" read the captions (yeah right  ;/). Open world zombie FPS style survival game! Multilayered damage model. Skin>soft tissue>bone. Zombies to model actual damage according to the location and intensity of your blows it bragged. Glad they didn't scrap the project... almost five years later.

I will be out of contact for the rest of the day, so I just wanted to confirm my willingness to go in on this deal.  I assume that means I would end up sending $37.50 directly to you, right?  I'm fine with that.

And that looks like 4.

About 5 hours to still get the pre-order credit.

Would anyone else care to have the honor of placing the order?

Paypal looks to be 30 cents + 3%  Can send email requesting payment. Never done it before, but seems easy enough...
[I'll geusstimate it to be 39, saving of 10 bucks]

Transfer of game upon receipt of payment seems most reasonable.

Feel free to send PM to settle things.

I can't commit to being the ringleader, only to purchase one copy.  Paypal is fine with me.

Purchase made, 3 'gifts' to send.  I'm sending paypal email requests for 39.00 to emails provided or to forum emails made public. [So just none for Dev so far, waiting on that PM]

Be sure to provide your steam names.  I'm shockingly enough, Ned Hamford

I'd prefer a quick steam mail to the account to confirm identity [and get added to the buddy list to play the game maybe]

Just a few hours till the game unlocks... I'm gonna start the downloading  =D

I just played for about an hour, got my settings and keyboard config right, and broke a few broomsticks over a few heads.  Interesting, so far.  It seems obvious that firearms are going to be hard to come by at first.

Apparently the firearms only become plentiful after ten hours or so of gameplay.

However, if you play the black woman security guard, you can whip out your personal sidearm whenever your rage meter fills, permitting you to clear an area of zombies very very quickly.

I am having trouble connecting with any of the characters.

White washed up football star hick - throws things
Black bitter washed up police officer lady turned security guard- shoots things
Black washed up rap star [one hit wonder]- blunt objects
Asian Receptionist- sharp objects [oh, and is a secret agent]

Very catchy rap song tho.  http://youtu.be/ovHf6boPulY
Quality game intro. Each 'hero' character makes an appearance.

But woe be to the early adapter.  Story is a beta version was accidentally sent to Steam.  Not confirmed, but I did read that the update would make currently saved games incompatible.  74 megs or so more of downloading too.

A little buggy, but I was expecting it with a preorder.  I like it except for the crashes to desktop I'm getting.  I expect that those will be fixed with time.  The multiplayer is a bit weird too.  I'm walking along, playing single player, when all of a sudden, there is another player in my game.  That was a little bit surprising.  All in all it looks to be a good game so far.

If my saved games won't work with the patch, I've got very little motivation to play past the familiarization phase.  But I really like it so far!

I like it.  I'm kinda a loner and two annoying folks have joined me and then caused trouble so far, so I'll probably knock it back to single player for a bit and run around clubbing things.

I like that you can aim for joints and break them for extra points.  A little buggy, but good game play.

Glad to hear all are enjoying it.  I've got to go through the options so I stop getting bothered with so and so is nearby messages.  Perhaps after the patch comes out I'll see about having some group APS play

The notion of playing with strangers doesn't appeal to me in the least.

Just curious.  What characters are you folks using as your own?

The gun has been too much of a draw for me.  The personal security guard has been my favorite.

Oh, and has anyone found Mags? Guy in the back of the lifeguard hut from the start asks after folks that split off.  I've done a fair amount of exploration, found 5 other survivors.  Haven't played past getting the main lifeguard station open.  Trying to resist further play till the patch.  Just finished Assassin's Creed 2, will probably pick up AC3 tomorrow.

Nice response from the developer.  Game was patched by the time I got to play it tonight.  No more crashes for me, and I played for a few hours with only a few bugs, which were mostly sound.  I did have some save game corruption, but it was the day of release so I had barely any time into the game and it kept my level, just made me start over.  All in all not a bad game at all.  Most preorders I've done have gone much worse.

I'm walking around as the girl who likes the sharp weapons.  I have yet to see a gun.  Strangely enough I'm mostly walking around sporting a baseball bat with nails in it.  Although I've got bunch of knives too, but the reach on those is pretty dang short.  I'm hoping to find or make a longer bladed weapon of some sort.

You guys seen the roaring zombies yet?  I've had one of those beat the tar out of me a few times.

I think they are called Thugs?  I've seen 3 so far.  A hut on stilts out in the water, on the roof of a gas station, and inside the garage of the lifeguard station.

I'm am pleased to say the rage gun from the security guard takes it down pretty fast.  I've maxed the skill that recharges rage from kick kills faster.

I haven't seen any notice about a patch and the DLC [The Ripper Recipe] is corrupted.  I get a few errors messages when starting the game.

Oh, and a touch of awkward, loaded a game when I had just finished relocating everyone to the lifeguard station... I am spawned in the radio room, but the door to the bottom is closed and cannot be opened from the top.

I'm going to head off and get myself a new video game.  I don't think I could hold off for the patch till then.

More 'scandal' rocks the game.  The Asian playable character... is not wearing panties.  It takes some contrived circumstance to be looking up her dress, but... well... the internet.

Pixels Ahead! [not absurdly explicit, just shaped and obviously underwear lacking, like a molded doll model]
