Can't they just make him drag an anvil or something slightly more Harrison Bergeron-esque?

I wonder if he's really "ok with that"...or if he's just smart enough to know that's what people want to hear.

Let's celebrate mediocrity.

What a load of liberal crap.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Let's celebrate mediocrity.

Unfortunately, it carries over into other aspects of life as well.  The best boss I ever had used to constantly remind us that being better than the competition wasn't good enough; we had to be the best that we were capable of being.  Winning by just a few points is too damn close to losing, and it's insulting to your opponent if you're capable of doing better than that.

Have been on and seen in person both sides of beat downs.  My feelings are if you don't want the score run up on you stop you need to do something about it.  On the other hand you don't run the score up for the sake of running the score up either.  I mean if you run a play up the middle and you can't tackle the guy then oh well that shouldn't be his fault.
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

I tend to see it as the responsibility of the losing side to concede the game if they have no chance.  The fact that it's not done more often could be a sign of having fun just playing the game, but I tend to think it's more a matter of people not having the psychological capability to lose (or in many cases, even to win) with grace and honor.

I vaguely recall a similarly outrageous action taken against an entire school team in, IIRC, Florida. After a couple of undefeated seasons, some idiot judge decreed that henceforth, that school with start the season with a couple of losses on their scorecard.

Lawsuits were filed, never heard what the ultimate outcome was.

Trump won in 2016. Democrats haven't been so offended since Republicans came along and freed their slaves.

What I would hope would automatically happen is the team does not make it all about this kid and let the other players have a chance, not just every play give the ball to one player.  There are probably some other kids that are quite good but overshadowed by the one kid.  I am looking at this from the aspect of giving each player a chance to excel and improving the entire team, not just letting the golden boy carry every game.

There is also the aspect that this is supposed to be fun, it is not professional football!

Now there's an idea; make them rotate positions every play, rather than just letting one kid play QB, RB, etc.

The regional high school league around here recently brought a coach up on charges because he "allowed" his team to beat an opponent (in football) by something like 50-0.

Thankfully, common sense prevailed when he pointed out that he had emptied the bench and put in all his third- and fourth-stringers before the end of the first half. What else was he supposed to do, ORDER his kids to NOT score? Even the opposing coach supported him. He admitted that his team was simply outgunned.
