STEUBENVILLE, Ohio -- Four men are in custody in Jefferson County charged with kidnapping and burglary for breaking into Amish homes and cutting off the beards of men there.

Looks like a religious feud gone bad! Cutting off beards? Wow.

It gets better. If you look at some of the other news reports, one of the guy's last name is Mullet.

[Wipes moistened brow] For a minute there, I was very much concerned that they were doing something truly evil, like handing out copies of The Barn-Raiser, door-to-door.

Here is an update:

Apparently, the motive was to punish people who had weak faith, and the attackers would take back hair to prove they had carried out the assaults.
Amish intimidation and scalping!? Sheesh!

In the interest of promoting ecumenism, I propose that they be sentenced in accordance with Shariah law if found guilty. They should be taken to a public venue and shorn of their own manly facial growth as a lesson for other Amish zealots.

Good golly Miss Molly -- first we have to worry about Islamicist fundamentalist terrorists, now the poor Amish folks also have to worry about Amishicist fundamentalist terrorists. Clearly, these (alleged) perps deserve to be charged with an assortment of "terroristic" offenses.

So, I'm working on my unified theory of crazy beards=crazy religion.  =D

Who knows, maybe we need an amish president. Shunning other countries could be fun!

Heck, don't the Mormans practice shunning? A vote for Romney is a vote for shunning. New campaign slogan.

Dunno about an Amish prez, though. Don't the Amish eschew telephones along with motor vehicles and EEElectricity? That could have consequences, if Putin or that nutcase in North Korea or the other nutcase in Venezuela decided to call the White House hotline to inform the Prez they were going to launch in 15 minutes ... and the Prez wouldn't answer because telephones are against his religion.
