Lend an ear.
« on: January 17, 2012, 08:26:12 PM »
In the last couple of months, I have had a few occasions to sit and listen to my elders (I am 61.)  I have also had occasion to sit and listen to a couple of kids.  Underlying all of these occasions has been the sense that too few sit and listen too seldom.

Spend some time with someone and make like an intellectual sponge, just sit there and listen.
Gee, I'd love to see your data!

I was tempted to just say "huh?" but manfully resisted the temptation....

Could you repeat that?....I wasn't paying attention.....

Oh, wait a minute... what were you talking about...?  Ears, right?  Could you say that again?

Yeah, well, they take 2 AA batteries and you seldom have to replace them, maybe every couple of months, like you say.

Yeah, they sit on your head pretty well and are very comfortable. The sponge around the earpieces is nice and soft if you have to spend some time with them on.

Wished I had done that before my Grandpa had passed away last year. Learned a lot about him at the funeral I hadn't know about him. We talked sometimes but wish we had talked more.  :'(
