Mitt Romney: Hit Gingrich Hard

Quote
Speaking before a crowd of more than 700 supporters at a rally here, Romney deviated from his standard remarks early, looking to define the candidate who mauled him in South Carolina in a different light by bringing up the tumultuous end of Gingrich's tenure as speaker of the House of Representatives.

Instead of attacking Newt, Romney needs to actually define himself, his beliefs, and his plan for America.

Dancing about releasing his tax returns for these months shows Romney and his advisers to be clueless about running a national campaign.

If Romney wants any chance to get the nomination, he needs to overcome his biggest obstacle, Romney.

What's Mitt going to do?.....tell voters that Gingrich is a liberal Yankee politician?....
Impressed yet befogged, they grasped at his vivid leading phrases, seeing only their surface meaning, and missing the deeper current of his thought.

Romney is hardly clueless, he is smart enough to know better than to hand over ammo to political enemies, and he's caught in a conundrum where if he does, he's seen as "honoring the public's (supposed) desire to see every candidate's dirty laundry" ,  or, if he doesn't, he's being to cagey and must "have something to hide."
Has anyone ever asked any reporter clamoring for a tax return to submit their tax documents for public perusal?   :police: :police: :police:

We know Romney has money.  He's stated his tax rate is 15%-- thus a capital gains tax and not an income tax, per se.  Do I need to see his tax form?  Hell no.
But .... *SIGH!*  I guess he's gonna cave and fork 'em over in April.
And I can only pray the loving public will be buried under them for six months like that stupid little Geicko Gecko lizard in those radio & TV commercials was!.. [tinfoil]

Actually, he has been, he just needs to treble his efforts in that direction.
Newt should quash his temper.  His rant against TV hosts using his failed marriages hit a target but some of the cr@p that's been flung by the candidates is sticking places that will do the republican party no good at all....... >:D

Mitt should have realized that running against a Marxist in times like these his wealth would have to be explained and justified. If he can't make the right arguments he should stay out of politics and just make money or try to be a kingmaker himself.

All of our current candidates are, for me, problematic, skirting what I think are the real issues.  Just as Obama lies and distorts because he couldn't possibly sell his real agenda to the people who have built and sustain America, our candidates dance around the cultural realities and play to the ancient platitudes.  I'd call all of this a cultural disease--a terminal one--if I didn't think it was part of a grand design set into motion many decades ago.

If you are wondering what kind of issues I am talking about, let's talk about legal--yes, I said legal--immigration.  With 14 million Americans out of work, many permanently, who is his right mind would argue for maintaining or even increasing legal immigration?  Who wants America's population dramatically increased?  And why?  Why--to cite an analog--is Governor Moonbeam chortling over adding another 20 million people to California to justify a high-speed rail system that is clearly uneconomic?  Who would these 20 million be?

As if we didn't know.  The whole thing's a travesty with the usual rubes and mountebanks.

Yes, the whole thing is a travesty. I find myself sighing a lot these days.

I find it interesting that these idiot politicians with baggage actually believe that us stoopid voters will believe what we are told, as opposed to reality.

None of them learned from Gary Hart's dare the press & fall from grace debacle.

I am still finding it very difficult viewing Newt as an outsider when he was the epitome of a Washington insider as the Speaker, and his insider personal revenue generation afterwords.

God forbid that any true issues are actually addressed by any of them in a direct manner.

I do hate political doublespeak...sorry, I mean lying.

Yeah, screw it. Lets cut off all immigration. What have any immigrants ever brought to the country?

That's the typical response.  You are in good company.   Unfortunately, it doesn't address the realities of what's going on today and has gone on in America.  If we were really selective, as we should be at this point, legal immigration would make sense; the way it is now it doesn't.  At least be honest: if you want to bring in two million a year, have the decency to deport two million current citizens to make it even.  (Yes, I'm joking.)

I know as well as you there are wonderful legal immigrants.  I know some.  Many of them understand "America" better than the natives.  Also true.  But I am talking about the policy that has since 1965 completely and radically transformed this culture, our values, and, yes, our economy.  If you think there is no connection between our current economic state and our immigration polices over the last half century you need to look into this more.

For the record, all four of my grandparents came over on the boat.

It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

No, not Obama.

If Obama wins, America as we know it ends, and it probably ends before the end of Obama's second term.
