Some gun questions
« on: April 26, 2012, 07:32:54 PM »
Don't get onto the actual gun boards that often so I thought I'd check in here instead. Few little things I've been wondering about...

Any thoughts on a good cross draw holster for a S&W snub? M&P 340 to be precise.

What are Swiss K31's in good-for-surplus condition going for these days? What about Mosin Nagants, normal beat up shape, an M38 (Russian not Finnish) and an M44 with the attached spike bayonet?

Who has the best price on unconverted Saigas in 7.62x39? I was set to buy and convert one but things got in the way and I'm just now getting back around to it.

Low one hundred-ish on the Mosin.

Yep, Noisy-Magnets go for $129 at the local Large Hill of the Male Goose, and that includes the bayonet, oiler and other standard pack of goodies.  These are Ukrainian from 1942ish. (at least the two I've seen).   I've been jonesing for one.....

I haven't seen ANY M38 Mosin-Nagants for sale for at least two or three years. They were selling for under $100, and I guess a lot of people bought them. What I typically see now is the M44, which has the bayonet built in as a side-folder. (Or the full-size M98/30).

Have you considered contacting Dragon Leatherworks?  Dennis over there can custom build you pretty much anything you want, and the retention is awesome.

K31s- $250-300, much more if in minty condition.
91/30s can still be had for under $100.
M38s and M44s up to $150 depending on condition.

Yeah, K31s moving up. If you are going to do it try to dive on any GP-11 you can now, I need to buy some more, I think I have 4 cases which is not enough for 4 rifles. If you seriously get the bug, source brass or save commercial brass.

No idea on the Mosin, I do know $120 would be my limit unless it was some mint Finnish thing with a new barrel.

I bought a finnish 91/30 for $120 a few years ago off a guy who had a few dozen of them on gunboards.
Aimsurplus has a 1/2 dozen different styles of 91/30s for around $100.

I notice that a few places that still have k-31s are pricing them higher than their 1911 and 96/11 rifles- who would have ever thunk it?
I wish I would have bought truckloads of gp-11 when it was super cheap, now I have none.
I bought about 350 pieces of 284 winchester brass several years ago when the 7.5 brass wasn't available. I had some of the local F-Class guys all but knocking down my door last year when they got wind that I had some virgin bags of this brass left and they couldn't find it anywhere.

Hadn't heard of them, but I'll look them up, thanks. :)
