Greek party in favor of Euro bailout wins election
« on: June 17, 2012, 06:33:33 PM »
So apparently by the narrowest of margins, the pro-bailout/austerity party in Greece has won the election.  It will be interesting to see how the markets react tomorrow morning.

I predict more rioting.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Pretty much.  Except most EU austerity programs are not very austere.  They're still growth in social spending.  Less growth, but few actual cuts

"Rev, your picture is in my King James Bible, where Paul talks about "inventors of evil."  Yes, I know you'll take that as a compliment."  - Fistful, possibly highest compliment I've ever received.

Well, this is taking a long time to unwind, but it will be a more complete crash of the eurozone than if Greece had simply left. Germany can't pay all the bills, Greeks will subvert austerity, hilarity will ensue.
