More stupid human tricks
« on: May 08, 2012, 08:55:43 AM »
http://www.9news.com/news/local/article/266837/222/CSU-student-tries-to-jump-into-pool-from-roof-misses

As the link implies a sophomore at Colorado State University tried to jump into a pool from the third floor and misses.

Allow me to quote you the most shocking part of the article:

Quote
Witnesses say people were drinking and lounging by the pool.

Alcohol was likely involved??!?? NOOooooo....

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

So, was the pizza party cancelled?

stay safe.
If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege.

Hey you kids!! Get off my lawn!!!

Alcohol gets a bad rap.
I'm betting there were women at the party. Guys do most of their stupidz around women (with the exceptions of things involving fire and farts) in order to somehow impress them.

Solution: ban women.

Ladies, ladies, I'm just making an analogy here to gun ban thinking.  Crap on me not.

Young men do stupid things to impress each other. Women, I would argue, on average make young men do slightly less stupid and dangerous things if only by virtue of the fact that young women are more likely than young men to say that is stupid and dangerous.

Yeah? And since when did young men ever listen to young women .... unless she was saying "yes."

Hence the "slightly". Young men, on occasion, do listen.

It wasn't the six guns that civilized the American west.  It was wimmin.  In this case I'd wager we're witnessing a combo effect of alcohol and wimmin.

The girls roll their eyes, but science shows that the risk-taking behavior indeed does get them in the ovaries.  Guys car surf, jump off roofs etc. for one reason. Because it works.

Probably something to do with being willing to brave getting stomped by that mastodon, to stick the final spear in and get the meat, vs. playing it safe all the time and everyone starving.

Of course it is a balancing act. Too risky, too often, the girl gets the impression he's going to die, leaving her and baby w/o a father.

Laughed like hell over that one.

The thing that really got to me was they were sooooo concerned about safety for the kid, helmet, knee-pads, etc. and then they go do something non-genius like that.

Oh, come on!

It's obvious that the only reason that failed is because the kid was not properly trained about staying on the board.

It would have worked!

That would explain a few things...

I used to keep a spear in my room. With a sign "In Case of Mastodon or Mammoth"

"Rev, your picture is in my King James Bible, where Paul talks about "inventors of evil."  Yes, I know you'll take that as a compliment."  - Fistful, possibly highest compliment I've ever received.

I know we're being flippant here, but there are truly several papers on the matter. It's a pretty settled piece of human psychology/sexuality.

Speaking of being flippant.   I'm going to hell for this:

Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.
